Using black when it isn't part of your school colors is nothing more than a gimmick that has taken hold in the last 1/2 doz years or so that a lot of teams are doing. Of the other 9 Div I programs within the state of VA the the Chokies and ODU have already jumped on the bandwagon (don't know if any of the other 7 have) so its not like we're doing anything original here. At least this is a (hopefully) one time thing, and doesn't become a 1-2 games every season thing.
FWIW I don't like the JMU gold jerseys either, and I think the Twerps looked horrendous and most of Oregon's look ridiculous.
Maybe I'm getting old.

ODU revealed their black jerseys for the WM game. The team got to foreman field not knowing of the surprise and just went a long with the usually pre-game routine and were told they were gonna wear the regular blue pants and blue jerseys for the game and then when they went back into the locker room right before the game the black jerseys were placed in the lockers...in other words, the team and the crowd were pretty pumped when the team was introduced for that game.

Liberty had black jerseys for the season finale vs. Stony Brook last year. That was also when they debuted the white helmets.

Maryland has 32 different new uniform combos, they had a fashion show and players walked out and showed them. Some of them look pretty good, and yeah, they also had some with black jerseys.
I am also not a fan of wearing black just for the sake of it, but if it's a one time deal at least the money from jersey sales is going to a good cause.

Who cares. If it builds excitement and since it is going to toward a good cause it shouldn't be a "we aren't doing anything original," bashing. Not say you are bashing, just saying that for me, it's not that big of a deal and to be quite honest, it is different and cool!

Naw. It's a fad that App State started.

Its not different if at least 3 of the other 9 Div I in the state have already done it (VT, ODU, and Liberty). You might say its cool. Others say its a bandwagon gimmick. JMU isn't being a leader here, but rather a follower.
If If you're gonna do the black uni gimmick, should do it to promote a night game that doesn't have something else to promote it.
Homecoming is a daytime game that already has its own promotion- Homecoming, and should be left for your school colors.

It's a gimmick for a sport that need's no gimmicks. Soccer? Maybe. Football? No.
I'm a hater of Old Dominion's black jerseys. It's not our school color.
That and the fact that they decided on blue numbers on a black jersey. CONTRAST DAMNIT!!!!!

Black jerseys for a school that wears dark blue isn't really much of a stretch.

Can we have a rule that fans of the same team can't have the same avatar? I'm so confused...
That's easy for schools with small fanbases, but you really start to hamstring posters from the larger fanbases being restricted in their choices just because they have a lot of company in rooting for their school of choice. Shame on you for restricting other people's freedoms.
