There will be no Sac State let-down. The Hornets are on a mission this year. Coach Sperbeck will not allow them to take SUU lightly.

Well, I think it's a bigger game for SAC than it is for UM. If SAC wants to make the playoffs and be considered "for real", they need to beat a quality FCS opponent on the road and head to Weber with Utah confidence!

Looking objectively... I would say that the UM/CP game is probably the bigger game. 0-2 UM would spur craziness amongst the Griz faithful and the Sky...

Both UM and Sac may need an at-large to get into the playoffs, and with us already being 0-1, our backs will really be against the wall if we don't win this one. Sac would still be sitting okay if they lost to SUU.

I'd rather lose to Cal Poly and beat Sac than the other way around. :coffee:

FYI, ISU scored 21 on the road at Washington State, Western State scored 12 at home against Angelo State. I'm curious, why do you think Western State will take us to the woodshed?

Whats your point?
Much larger pool of evidence to draw from in the Davis/CPSLO argument.
Not really, since we don't play CP, it really isn't relevant to the discussion, and we have played Davis a grand total of 1 time. You're smarter than that AZ, don't go following kemajic's lead, you know he doesn't know where he is going.

Your boys are 4-9 against Cal Poly....I'd say THAT qualifies as a "pool of evidence to draw from"....and you're o-fer your last 7 against them. :coffee:

CPSLO runs the ball; that's what they do. griz continue to turn the ball over.
If they watched any game film, that isn't what they will try and do this week. I hope you are right, but I see them airing it out this week.

not so sure. CPSLO threw the ball a total of 14 times last week, while playing "catch up." if CPSLO watches film, they should be ready for any out or screen passes johnson(or kemp) throws their way ;)

my whole point is this: CPSLO runs a type of offense that has kinda been the blueprint for beating the griz the last few years. physical, tough, down-hill running, ball control offense. IF the turnover trend continues, it's gonna play right into CPSLO hands :twocents:

This. As a Hornet fan this is a must win game. Especially heading into WSU in week 3 in a place we never won followed by facing UM at home in week 4.

CP has their backs against the wall in week 2. They have a non-counter and another FBS program still on the schedule. They lose this week (assuming they lose their FBS game) and they have to win out to have a shot at the playoffs. I have a hard time seeing CP getting blown out this week.

If they stick to the run game this week, I like our chances after what I saw last week. I really don't think we turned the ball over that much last week. We should have had a few +'s but didn't manage to get the 5-6 balls on the ground early. I don't like it but 3 turnovers in a wet opener against a fast FBS opponent isn't that bad. Most Big Sky teams had 2 turnovers, a few had 1 and Eastern had 4 in their should have won game.

2506 is the master of denial. 45-0 has to be denied; it can't be forgotten. He probably also denies the 34-7 and 42-17 FCS ass-kickings they took last year, just because they finally made the playoffs.

Denial is a river in Egypt.

OK, Kem, enlighten me how that Davis game in 2006 will impact the game Saturday. I guess the UM loss to Cal Poly in 2005 should then tell us that the Griz will lose this weekend. as always :coffee:

Hmmm... 45-0 at home vs. 35-33 on the road. Great comparison.

As far as enlightenment, you can't seem to play with the CA teams; you've even managed to lose 6 to SacSt. Davis could easily have your number again.

Cal Poly is an option team. I'm pretty sure they're going to run a lot. They aren't quite as run heavy as other flexbone teams, but they still run it about 75% of the time.

I'm not too worried about CP's offense. The Griz have historically done well against option teams with Breske as DC (unlike Paulson). The key is avoiding the mistakes from last year: turnovers, big pass plays, penalties & poor punting. The Mustangs have had a porous secondary in recent years, so hopefully the Griz QBs can be accurate enough to take advantage (UM threw for 416 in SLO last year).
