13-13 with 4:30 left to play. LETS GO UNI!!!!!

that would be after ISU had just scored a TD, prior to their kicking the XP, which put it at 13-14.
On the next offensive play, UNI scores on an 80-yard TD pass, then attempts a 2-pt conversion (unsuccessfully), which gave them a 19-14 lead.

Cyclones then are able to march it down (after yet another unimpressive kickoff by UNI) to inside the two, where it takes them 3 tries (and practically three booth reviews) to score, putting them up 19-20 with 40 seconds left. They attempt a 2-pt, which is intercepted by UNI (would have LOVED to see him run it back, which I believe would have given UNI 2 points on the lead, but that wasn't much of a possibility).

well thats something to be excited about. In other completely unrelated news ODU Field Hockey defeated #1 Maryland 4-0 on Friday.

they got a decent win against Florida State on a neutral court, but I wouldn't call it a "huge win". Beating a highly ranked Minnesota team last season in Minneapolis was a huge win. They play two more ranked teams next week, in Minnesota (currently #11 in the coaches poll) and Iowa State (currently #19), and if they can win those, they might qualify as "huge wins", even though their ranking would suggest that they SHOULD win against ISU (in reality, ISU is probably a bit favored in that one)

That was an ugly game last night.

We need to up our kicking game. As noted the punting was terrible. The kickoffs are terrible too.

I knew we were screwed at the end when they started the prevent defense. WE had been stopping them all night and then we start that shit.

Farley better have Varmah Sonie running stairs in the dome all day today. Maybe then he will be too tired to run his fucking mouth and get penalized for it.

Iowa State will be lucky to win one more game this year. All of the intelligent ISU fans I talked to at the end of the game were thanking their lucky stars they got out of their with a W.

One other thing. Farley needs to learn to manage the use of his timeouts. Having one at the end of the game last night might not have made a difference but it would have helped.

This thread is Northen Iowa @ Iowa State. You would certainly expect an ISU fan or two wouldnt you? Otherwise you might just call it the UNI Game for UNI Fans.

The kicking game may have contributed to the UNI woes but allowing the Cyclones to convert 3 of 3 4th down attempts is a stat to look at too. UNI appears to have a couple weaknesses contributing to the loss that could have been a win: The kicking game and of course the old issue of physical play. 4th downs are as physical as you can get.

Another big factor was the Cyclones inexperience at QB. This was Jantz first game. He made mistakes. His inexperience is probably best illustrated by the 3 INTs. They were a big factor in why this game was close. Those 3 extra drives have to help the Panthers.

UNI played pretty damn well in this game. Just a lucky fluke play for ISU on that 4th down play. Essentially a hail mary...

UNI should have won the game, and really did out play Iowa State in this game. Lots of positives to take from this game though. Tirrell Rennie looked 100% better than he did last year, and if he can stay healthy and play all year like he did last night, UNI will have an amazing year. UNI unquestionably won the LOS battle on both sides of the ball, and looks to have talent and speed all over the field. Lots of potential for a big year. Just a matter of putting it together week after week.
