ODU wins 41-14. Campbell scored on the very first drive of the game to go ahead 7-0 but the Monarchs ran off 38 straight points and never looked back.

Starting QB Thomas Demarco threw for 312 yards with 2 TD's and 1 INT on 29 of 39. Redshirt freshman Antonio Vaughan was a pleasant surprise has he had 6 receptions and 97 yards with 1 TD. He also had 1 rush for 30 yards.

On defense, Ronnie Cameron led the team with 9 tackkles with 3 being TFL for 10 yards. Sophomore Paul Morant had an INT which was returned 12 yards. PK Jarod Brown was 2/2 on Field goals with a 45 long. Perfect 5/5 on PAT's. All-American Punter Jonathan Plisco was a beast with 3 punts for 135 yards and had a long of 59. He forced the Campbell to start within their 10 yard line twice.

Overall, the Monarchs outgained the Camels 506 to 231 total yards.

Football Monarchs Dominate Campbell, 41-14
Antonio Vaughan had 191 all-purpose yards for ODU.

NORFOLK, Va. - Antonio Vaughan had 191 all-purpose yards and scored two touchdowns as Old Dominion dominated Campbell 41-14 Saturday night at S.B. Ballard Stadium.

Vaughan, in his Monarch debut, ran for 30 yards, picked up 97 yard receiving, and racked up 48 yards on kick returns. He caught a 43-yard pass from Thomas DeMarco on the first play of the game, and only improved from there as he scored on a 34-yard pass reception with four minutes remaining in the second quarter and later scoring on a 30-yard run to increase the Monarchs' lead to 38-7 with 10 minutes left in the third quarter.

Great game, beautiful day and fantastic result.

ODU fans couldn't ask for much more in an opener.

I really don't think we should EVER play a FBS team on the road.....especially not after witnessing today's carnage. Give me the easy victory at home to build confidence going forward to start out the season.

CAA Football Rookie of the Week - Antonio Vaughan, WR, Old Dominion
Vaughan finished his Monarch debut, a 41-14 win for Old Dominion over Campbell in the season-opener, with 191 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns. The redshirt-freshman hauled in six catches for 97 yards, including a 34-yard second-quarter touchdown pass from Thomas DeMarco. Vaughan later showed his ground skills by scampering 30 yards to paydirt in the third quarter, boosting the ODU lead to 38-7. The CAA Football Rookie of the Week was also effective in the Monarchs' return game posting a 16-yard punt return and two kickoff returns for 48 yards.
