Montana loses 2 more assistants...

Post by putter »

Per Greenie on AGS.

In addition to Pete Kaligas, o-line coach, went to Wyoming. This occurred in late December. Kaligas played o-line at Washington and was the UW strength coach before coming to Montana. He's been at Montana about 4 years.

Cedric Cormier, receiver coach, is going to Miami of Ohio. He played football at Colorado and came to Montana from a high school in Texas. He's been at Montana 2 years.

Dom Daste, tight end coach and former o-line coach, is going to San Jose St. He played o-line at Washington and was a grad assistant at UW before coming to Montana. He's been at Montana 6 years.

The Griz may want to start keeping some of that cash in the athletic programs to keep some of these good coaches around. Cormier was a very good recruiter.
‎"Born in other countries, yet believing you could be happy in this, our laws acknowledge, as they should do, your right to join us in society, conforming, as I doubt not you will do, to our established rules. That these rules shall be as equal as prudential considerations will admit, will certainly be the aim of our legislatures, general and particular." --Thomas Jefferson, letter to Hugh White, 1801

Why would they want to do that??? Then there would be less to spend frivolously and less for the BOD and president.

Shouldn't one assume they will double their pay as assistants leaving the Big Sky?

Weber also lost 3 coaches....

I assume there's the obligatory new thread over at eGriz right now bemoaning the fact that one of these assistants leaving wasn't Phen-Phen.

LOL.

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

They're leaving because Ursus is being such a dik to Appa lately.....it's a protest walkout....

That douche was the guy that recruited my son when he was on Koenning's staff at Wyoming. Never could figure why Montana hired him. Douche bag deluxe.

I think that some Griz fans actually saw a ray of hope after the JMU game. Phen Phen actually called a very good game there. Unfortunately he came crashing back to earth for the Richmond tussle.

Heard on the sidlines, midway through the second quarter "Hey, Bobby? Who's this "Reynolds" guy on the roster? Why does that name sound vaguely familiar?"

FWIW, I ran into Chase a week after the NC game. Thanked him for a great year, a terrific game against JMU, and a great catch against Richmond.

The class, and humility this kid showed in our conversation was truly humbling. He apologized to me no less than three times for his performance against the Spiders. He thanked me for my support, and ended our talk with "I just didn't get it done".

Pure class, if you ask me!

Sounds like he took one for the team, I mean his OC. Chase never even got the opportunity to not get it done.

And THAT'S why my comment was "Jesus". They picked the WRONG damned time to get off the horse that brung them there.
