Honestly, I prefer speed cameras to roving cops. They must post signs for the cameras and you can go on websites that will tell you where they all are. The only problem with the cameras are the dipshits that slow down to UNDER the limit when they pass them. Most of those idiots are from DC and VA.andy7171 wrote:I warned you about moving to MoCo.93henfan wrote:

Re: Keeler frowns on FBS scheduling
The head cop at my new job matter of factly told everyone at the new employee orientation that the cameras don't click unless you're doing 11 mph over. He told me not to tell anyone, especially on an open internet forum.89Hen wrote:Honestly, I prefer speed cameras to roving cops. I'm pretty sure the county actually has to divulge that info along with the location.93henfan wrote:The head cop at my new job matter of factly told everyone at the new employee orientation that the cameras don't click unless you're doing 11 mph over. BTW, we have one on a 35 mph two lane I go down almost every day. I'm dying to drive the opposite direction at 50 to see if it goes off. I'm 95% sure they can't ticket me even though it's obviously a far worse infraction.

Re: Keeler frowns on FBS scheduling
I went on the anti-speed camera coalition (or whatever they're called) website and took a look at the locations around me. 90%+ of the locations are fixed, but they also listed some roving cameras. I haven't noticed any roving cameras yet. Does this mean I have a stack of tickets coming to me soon? I still have a temporary tag on my new Jeep, so I'm hoping it confuses them. The numbers are tiny.89Hen wrote:I'm pretty sure the county actually has to divulge that info along with the location.93henfan wrote:The head cop at my new job matter of factly told everyone at the new employee orientation that the cameras don't click unless you're doing 11 mph over. Re: Keeler frowns on FBS scheduling
There are two types of "roving" but they're always in the same spots when they're there. One is a van with cameras. It's a dead giveaway because they always have to put an orange cone next to it for safety. The other are metal boxes about 4' tall, 2' wide. They are much harder to spot, but they don't move those very often. I went by both varieties today.93henfan wrote:I went on the anti-speed camera coalition (or whatever they're called) website and took a look at the locations around me. 90%+ of the locations are fixed, but they also listed some roving cameras. Yikes! Now I'm even more nervous. Are you familiar with the Great Seneca Highway? That's about 75% of my travels. There's nothing listed on it and people are generally hauling ass. Should I be concerned?89Hen wrote:I went by both varieties today.

Nope. There are even more crazy rules to the cameras. It's my understaning that the speed limit is too high on GSH. I believe they can only shoot these things on 35-40mph or lower.93henfan wrote:Yikes! Now I'm even more nervous. Are you familiar with the Great Seneca Highway? That's about 75% of my travels. Another rule... they have some near school zones that can only shoot during school hours. So you're OK at night and weekends to go as fast as you want.
The only thing that really bothers me is their insistance that these are put out for public safety. If they'd just own up and say it's to generate revenue, I'd respect them a lot more.

I don't know what Keeler said. I didn't read why he didn't like it or whatever. I never mentioned that he said shit about the injury thing. I just responded to Cap'n and his assessment. I am referring to things "that people say because they have heard the **** passed around as fact for so long" which, if it doesn't include Keeler, I'm not including in that statement so fuck off with your assessment.on creating things that aren't there while you create things that aren't there slick Luther.UD77 wrote:No where in the quoted artical did Keeler say a thing about injuries from a FBS game. What the fuck does stimulus jobs have to do with this other than being the incoherent, non sequitur ramblings of an overly sensitive simpleton?
Eh, you could be a decent fella and I just over reacted a bit there.

Agree; it's one of the status quo group's favorite lame arguments.Cap'n Cat wrote:CAA Flagship wrote:http://hamptonroads.com/2011/08/delawar ... -fbs-teams
Nova, JMU, and UD injury update included at bottom of article.
The injury argument is complete bullshit. I defy anyone to show me stats that indicate a higher number of injuries v FBS than the rest of a team's schedule.

I've got to agree, low blocking is not only legit, but perfectly legal. There is nothing unethical about cutting a guys legs unless you are a pu$$y LB who can't blow up a block.

can't make the playoffs if your fb program is cut due to budget deficits.....Ivytalk wrote:Keeler's right: Keep your eyes on the prize, which is the playoffs.
if your program is fortunate enough to not need such "money games", then more power to you for not playing FBS. (just don't start whining when a team gets ranking/seeding cred for having played and beaten a quality FBS team that season)

Ursus, I love you but what canned lines am I going to use for smack talk if there is no evidence for this? The injury argument is complete @#!*% . I defy anyone to show me stats that indicate a higher number of injuries v FBS than the rest of a team's schedule.

There is evidence but I don't know where it was and since it's been four or five years since I've see the webpage I can't tell ya where it's at. But there must be evidence to the contrary if your gonna can smack me.
I think it was a UD poster that actually posted the link back then and I was hoping it would catch someone's attention and they'd link it again.

In ODU's case I hope we never need the so-called "Money Games". Keeler is right and so is Wilder but for different reasons obviously. Now I wouldn't mind seeing ODU play local and regional teams like Virginia Tech, Virginia, ECU but I hope it doesn't have to become an annual thing.JayJ79 wrote:can't make the playoffs if your fb program is cut due to budget deficits.....Ivytalk wrote:Keeler's right: Keep your eyes on the prize, which is the playoffs.

We've had awful shitty luck with health in these money bag games. I'm just hoping we can get out of Corvallis this weekend without any major injuries to key players.Ursus A. Horribilis wrote: True.
