No...a sell out is a sell out. Being sold out of tickets means there are no tickets left to sell. 97% is not 100...unless you're using MENSA math....

Rarely ever will you see 100% butts in seats anywhere. Not one ticket where the ticket holder died/injured/got sick/car crash on the way/company couldnt or didnt try hard enough to give away seat/something came up etc.


If it doesnt involve butts in seats anywhere could just give away tickets with said number of gallons of gas/10$ at a grocery store/eat at a restraunt etc. To inflate tickets sold #'s and call it a sellout.

Obviously that is not how everyone defines it..as you can plainly see 42,900 and 43,100 are not the same number. Also note both those numbers are BELOW full seating capacity for citizen bank park.

That is just one example I can find. I am curious as to how the NCAA defines a sellout. If you can find a source link to an offical NCAA definition I would gladly except it. Till then its really just your opinion of what a sellout should be.

42,900 is what the VP listed as a sellout crowd for the phillies. Now if you take the biggest number from the article link I posted (45499) you would see that is only 94.2% of tickets sold. That attendance number includes SRO.

I would bet you money that Lafayette doesnt sell out. But st francis does.

Labor day has alot to do with everything. There are around 900 tickets left for lafayette. But I would guess the student section wont be full cause of labor day. Freshman are still gonna be freshman. There are 400-500 tickets left for St Francis and the student section will be full. Walk ups should take care of the St Francis game cause its not on a holiday in which people go to their lake houses one last time before winter.

A sellout is 97% capacity correct? thats a little under 18200. Which if the GA fills and the students fill St francis would already be a sellout, unless boatloads of people already bought tickets then decide to not show up.

No those 900 tickets are just reserved seating, that number doesnt include the 4000 student tickets or the 2000 general admissions tickets. We are unable to acquire the numbers of those tickets until kickoff or shortly after.

I also had heard lafayette returned some of their visitor tickets and the number is about 1100 for reserved atm. Typically following a good season student section is packed with the exception of laborday weekend, if the game is on a saturday. And hunting opener. General admission ususally sells out too.

I believe there are 12700 reserved seats typically. Seasontickets are sold in this section.

That isn't my personal definition. That is the definition I got from the box office I used to work for...that had to report numbers to the MVFC and MVC. UNI could not call an event a sell out until there were ZERO tickets of any kind to be sold.
