If a team wants to build and indoor stadium, and their fans like it, more power to 'em. But football should be played outdoors, in just about all weather conditions (certainly all weather conditions that are safe). I also think that cold weather could be a potential huge home field advantage for the Dakota teams if they played outdoors.

The type of cold weather that is in the Dakotas is not an advantage for anyone. '10 degrees with 30 MPH winds and literally playing on ice fields, just produces shitty football and fluky games.

Perhaps, I can't say 100% that you are wrong, but I disagree with you. I think a team can get used to playing in those conditions and adjust accordingly if they play in them enough. I think warm weather team would have an easier time adjusting to a noisy dome than they would bitter cold and windy conditions.

The end of the season during the winter is played indoors. Usually the Alerus or fargodome in ND. western MN playoffs are in the fargodome sometimes too i believe (not certain) and the MN Championship is played in the metrodome.

You guys havent a clue what winter is like till youve lived in Fargo.

I know you think 0 and a 10 mile an hour wind is cold. But till youve experienced -25 BEFORE windchill + a 40 mile an hour wind. You would think again. Playoff games would have to be canceled on occasion cause of outdoors. More often than not we have a NWS warning to not go outside for more than 5 minutes.

Just havent got a clue. :ohno:

Western ND doesnt even get close to as cold as Fargo. Grand Forks is typically just as cold. If it was somehow affordable to play during the fall outside I would support that. Only if their was an indoor option for playoff games on days when its deadly cold.

It was exceptionally warm all last winter, probably could have been done in 2010.

All of those sites work with the numbers that dont matter. Hi's and Low's.

And completely disregard the ones that do matter, WC and HI. Just a few months ago it was a 90 degree day in fargo, However the heatindex was 136F. That 90 degree day is nothing like another 90 degree day when the Heat index is 91.

Just the same a 5F day when the Windchill is -25F, is nothing like a 5F day when the windchill is 4F.

Living 60 miles west of bismarck for 18 years and living in fargo for 5. I can personally gurantee with my experiences Fargo is alot colder than western ND.

Fargo isn't the only place in the world where the wind blows and it gets cold. But it's apparently the only place in the world where the football players aren't able to play through it. It's ok to admit it....just cements the fact that the midwesterners are basically pussies and that explains their failure to be able to hang with teams once they leave the friendly confines of their quanset hut. :thumb:

WTF does that have to do with the price of rice in China? I've been around the block a time or two, lived in 18 different states and been in 48 of them. Worked and lived in all kinds of weather. Spent the winter of '84 in Chicago, where it was -85 degrees WC Christmas day....worked one summer (OUTDOORS-GASP!!!) in North Dakota in the oil fields....

So, your hunch is wrong. Guess again...

Yeap thats gotta be it.
January 30 through February 4, 1989. A bitterly cold Arctic air mass invaded the northern Rockies bringing record cold temperatures and extreme wind chills to Montana. Ahead of the front, on January 30th, downslope winds gusted to 100 mph at Shelby, 102 mph at Cut Bank, 114 mph in Augusta, 117 mph at Browning and 124 mph at Choteau. Twelve empty railroad cars were blown over in Shelby. Elsewhere, roofs were blown off homes, mobile homes were rolled over or torn apart and numerous trees and power lines were blown down.

With the passing of the Arctic front on the 31st, temperatures dropped dramatically. In Helena, the temperature remained colder than -20F for 84 hours (three and a half days) including a record low, -33F, on the fourth. Wind chill values during this period dropped to -75F. The cold caused the brakes to fail on a freight train. The train then rolled, uncontrolled, into Helena and exploded causing extensive damage to Carroll College.

In Billings, record lows were established for 5 consecutive days. Bozeman set record lows for four consecutive days. In Missoula, record lows of -22F and -23F were established on the 2nd and the 3rd, respectively. Wisdom, Montana, saw the mercury drop to -52F on February 3rd.

As the cold front moved through Great Falls on January 31st, the temperature dropped from 54F to -23F (a 67F change) and did not rise to above -20F until February 4th. This included two record low temperatures (-35F and -33F) on the 3rd and 4th.
Guess what. None of these places play football indoors. I'm sure somehow it's colder, windier, noisier and more humid in Fargo though.  :kisswink:
