I think Barrington Collins could be just as good or better then Trevyn. He was being recruited by Florida State, UCLA, Arizona State etc.
However, I think Weber's o-line would make any Running back look like an all american

Maybe, maybe not. While I'm not a big fan of running back by committee, having one or two decent backups is almost mandatory these days. EWU almost screwed the pooch when they lost TJ. Given that they didn't really have a name back behind him, they were fortunate to have a QB of the calibre of BLM.kemajic wrote:My bet is that none of them are as good as Trevyn Smith.Wildcat Ryan wrote:http://www.standard.net/stories/2011/08 ... -conundrum

Just don't put all your eggs in one basket.

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

5,500 yards and 50 TDs in 4 seasons....not the boldest bet about our new runningbacks...kemajic wrote:My bet is that none of them are as good as Trevyn Smith.Wildcat Ryan wrote:http://www.standard.net/stories/2011/08 ... -conundrum

in the first 41 yrs of WSU football one man rushed for over 3,500 yds then smith surpassed 5,000 yds 4 yrs later.

The reason Weber wont get any new record breaking backs anytime soon is because all 5 running backs will play this year.

Re: Wildcats in a tailback conundrum
My bet. The best I've seen at Weber, but in 5 games against Montana, he was a problem only once, in his only win in 2008. Overall totals for 5 games, 103 carries for 458 yds and 3 tds; 11 receptions for 206 yds and 1 td. A warrior and consistent player, but nowhere near the threat of a Taiwan Jones.SloStang wrote:Is that your bet or your hope?????kemajic wrote: My bet is that none of them are as good as Trevyn Smith.
Weber will not be so successful running the ball against Montana this year. They probably still think the 3rd string DTs we had availabe for last year's game is all we will have. Unless we have an injuries repeat, they will be surprised.

Exactly right SH. I think much of the season successes will depend on depth. Injuries seem to play a bigger part each year. Although QB or RB by committee may not seem the best way to go; it is sure nice when one goes down and you have a capable replacement.SuperHornet wrote:Maybe, maybe not. Wow, you continually criticize other posters for "speculating", but all you do is speculate.
You have no idea who Weber's RB's are but your going to sit there and say none of them are as good as Trevyn Smith, how do you know?
Weber will not be so successful running the ball this year? why not? We have all 5 of our O-lineman back. And 5 running backs all capable of being the starter at Weber.
If you think a Ron McBride coached team is going to go into a game over confident and unprepared your even less inteligent than YOU give yourself credit for.
Weber will play all 5 running backs this year, of course one guy aint gonna have Trevyns #'s with all 5 playing, but that doesnt mean they are in any way less talented.

Re: Wildcats in a tailback conundrum
Your reading comprehension skills are exposing themselves. If you will re-read, you will find I never said Weber will not be so successful running the ball this year. I said they will be less successful running the ball against Montana this year relative to last, when we were woefully decimated in the DL for the Weber game. You would rather argue than make an attempt to comprehend what a poster wrote.Wildcat Ryan wrote:Weber will not be so successful running the ball this year? why not? And none of those backs have demonstrated they can carry Smith's jock. Maybe they will; I have to be shown. We have the same issue trying to replace Reynolds - plenty of potential, but potential does not trump results.

32 losses in 6 years; 6-5 last year; seems possible.Wildcat Ryan wrote:If you think a Ron McBride coached team is going to go into a game over confident and unprepared your even less inteligent than YOU give yourself credit for.

I was also talking about the Montana game, just because the word Montana was not used in my sentence doesnt mean I wasnt talking about that game.
And FYI, It wasnt Trevyn Smith who beat the Griz last year.

Losses @ Boston College (ACC) @Texas Tech (Big 12) @ Sacramento State (improving BSC team, some think are playoff good) @ Montana State (Co Big Sky champ) and E. Wash (Co Big Sky champ and eventual National Champions)
Yeah, those are all bad losses, lost because we went in overconfident and unprepared

Who said anything about playing in Ogden? I simply said maybe it will rain again. I know the game is in Missoula
Blessed? The way I see it, UM had to play in the same exact monsoon that Weber had to play in. Great teams win no matter what the weather.
