Why AZ...WHY?

There are tickets available for this game from http://www.gobison.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. You can still get on the 50 but you will be at the top of the Dome. Its a long hike up. You can get endzone too, but all of the seats are high up.

Here is the Scoring Alert insight:

Some of the schools that have fans commenting on this board play in high school stadiums. The difference between something like that and the Fabulous Fargo Dome must get some of these kids a little off their game. The only stadium out west that can be considered an equal of the Fabulous and Prestigious Fargo Dome is Washington Grizz. That of couse is an outdoor stadium cobbled together over a generation or so but still an exciting deal for western teams.

The Fabulous Fargo Dome is a football facility. A single concept sports arena. Considering quality and size it is more typical of eastern football facilities that are scaled to FCS/FBS not D2 or high school. That is why I am only giving one point for home field to the BISON.
Montana and EWU jealousy duly noted. :coffee:

adolescent humor aside, the venue is part of the story for this game.

Its a storied venue. BISON average margin of victory in the FFD is over 20 points. Some of the largest crowds in the history of the FCS have gathered there for BISON Football. Toast of the town. Prestigious. Its a single concept sports arena, not a hobbled together grandstand outside someplace. I think the Griz will see the difference when they roll into Fargo in a couple years, or sooner if NDSU out bids them for a play off game.

The home field advantage is a standard adjustment in score prediction. A +1 for NDSU in this game is a good sign for The Pardes. Looking a lot like Lehigh or UNI they are getting respect. 8-)

Its on NDSU land. Main Campus. Thats where the prestige comes in. NDSU and the Fargo Dome Authority have a wonderful relationship. The Fabulous Fargo Dome is a single concept sports arena with auxiliary uses that contribute to its outstanding bottom line.

I really prefer the single concept indoor sports arena for football over the cobbled together old fashioned out door grandstand. The game was not meant to be played at the fair. A grandstand is nice but the single concept indoor football facility is better.

It was meant to be played outdoors. Not in an airplane hangar.

You have no idea what "single concept" is, do you?

It was designed and built for the City of Fargo as a multi-purpose building for large events. Just like the Tacoma Dome. ndsu rents it out. There is no prestige. :coffee:

The only sport that doesnt benefit from indoor play is baseball. The major sports have all moved inside. Hockey is the sport most out of its element inside because it must be played on ice. When there is ice outside the weather is generally cold and winter like, inhibiting both player and fan. teh hockies inside conditions are dramatically different.

Football adapts well to indoor play. In fact the game is greatly improved because the chance interference of the weather is taken out of it leaving it up to the execution and planning.

Of all sports hockey benefited the most from moving inside, baseball the least. Basketball and football didnt do too badly either. In fact basketball is never played outside anymore. Hockey rarely is and football is certainly played inside by the elite teams. Generally speaking inside sports are more profitable than the same sport outside.

I dont think too many people will disagree with the statement that outside tailgating and inside football is the best combination, unless they are idiots of course.

This will be a good experience for the Pardes. They play in a league that might find its playoff representative in Fargo. Having played the Fabulous Fargo Dome is not only a prestigious bragging right for the visiting team but a bit of valuable experience down the line should they find themselves in the same bracket as NDSU.

Here is the latest from Dom Izzo and Jeff Kolpack on the BISON. Good video from practice. Note at about 2 min in the reference to Lehigh/UNI.

Here are the fighting words from Pardes Head Coach Frank Tavani:
"They're trying to stop giggling after looking at last year's film on us," Tavani quipped of NDSU. "That's just as well. We're going out there to win; people give us very little chance, even around our own campus, and that's the way we like it. I totally believe we're going to go out there and upset those people and start the season the right way."

Franchises playing in a domed or retractable-roof stadium typically do poorly in the playoffs.[2] As of January 4, 2007, dome teams were 8-29 in outdoor playoff games. The only dome teams to win a Super Bowl are the 1999 St. Louis Rams, the 2006 Indianapolis Colts and the 2009 New Orleans Saints, although the Rams won the Super Bowl in the Georgia Dome in 1999.[3] In 2010, three of the four teams playing in the AFC and NFC championships had home stadiums that had a dome or retractable roof (New Orleans Saints, Minnesota Vikings, and the Indianapolis Colts). Super Bowl XLIV hosted the Saints and the Colts, marking the first time that two indoor teams played each other in a Super Bowl. Conversely, outdoor stadium teams tend to do well in the playoffs. Through Super Bowl XLIV, outdoor teams have won 41 of the 44 Super Bowls held so far.[4][5] Outdoor stadiums built in climates with an average January temperature of less than 50°F (10°C) are, by rule, not allowed to host the Super Bowl, though this was apparently waived to allow Super Bowl XLVIII, in 2014, to be hosted at MetLife Stadium.

Which elite teams are those? Auburn, Texas, Oregon, Alabama, Ohio State, Nebraska?

Oh, but maybe you meant elite FCS teams......App State, Montana, Georgia Southern, Delaware?

I reckon there is only one team in the FCS that could even be considered an elite team that plays in a dome, and that would UNI.

Which also happens to be the only 'elite' team without a national title. :coffee:

Honestly, how many FCS teams have domes?

NAU
SDSU
NDSU
ISU
UNI

Who else? Because none of these teams fit the definition of "elite".
