Only one. And its NDSU.
No FCS program has ever sold out a stadium, except NDSU.

NDSU's average attendence is about 3,000 below capacity. They probably only sell out if they play one of the other Dakota schools.

We sell out if we are having a good season. Playing another Dakota is a way to get us there when we are not having a great season.BearIt wrote:DJH wrote:Only one. And its NDSU.

Both quotes are from 2008.
North Dakota State has put together back-to-back 18,000-plus seasons. NDSU attracted a school record 18,141 fans over five home dates in 2007.
You can get cute with JBB butThe football program has enjoyed seven sellouts over the past three seasons including a school record 19,053 against South Dakota State in 2006.
Selling out everygame would probably be easier if the Sioux folks didnt live in fargo. And also if there wasnt a tri college in FM involving 3 universities. There are 3 Universities/Colleges in a 4 mile radius MSUM(7,500) Concordia(3000) and NDSU(14,000).
Scratch the sioux fans the cobber fans and the dragon fans, we would probably have even better attendance and a bigger university.
If we were FBS and winning the other 2 universities in FM wouldnt matter. But kids that go to another university couldnt give 2 shits about an FCS school.

There is also a Tech. College in Moorhead as well with nearly 6500 students. Fargo-Moorhead is a very college oriented community.

Re: Sold Out?
Some schools sell out every game. NDSU is about 3/4 the way there. Right now we need something extra for a game to sell out. Our opener is always a big game.BearIt wrote:DJH wrote:Only one. And its NDSU.

Its a function of winning too. Last year NDSU had 2-3 game home stands. They went 5-1.
17,340 for Morgan State last years opener, one of the lowest attended openers in years. Next game was University of South Dakota. we had 18,748. Good for about a 10% boost.
18,701 for WIU, the last of that 3 game run.
The next 3 game home stand saw 15,500 - 12,200 - 17,000 for Indiana Sate, SIU and South Dakota State.
For the first 3 NDSU was coming off an impressive split with Kansas and UNI, ranked high and on the rise. By the last 3 home games NDSU was considered a middle of the pack team ranked in the low 20s.

Re: Sold Out?
a 6-3 bumble-fest with KSU followed by the worst pimp-slapping in FCS (-40 yards rushing, 11 sacks) at the hands of UNI is an impressive split? No wonder you're having nocturnal emissions over playing .500 ball in conference.JBB wrote:Some schools sell out every game. NDSU is about 3/4 the way there. Re: Sold Out?
I agree about Cobber and Sioux fans, but MSUM students/alumni don't even give a shit about their very own athletic teams. I knew some people who went to MSUM, the only college sporting events they attended were Bison games. I think even more just come to the west lot to tailgate and then leave. It seemed like a few times last year, there were more people in the west lot than in the dome.Twentysix wrote:We sell out if we are having a good season. Re: Sold Out?
MSUM has never been known to market their athletic programs but do quite well marketing their respective academics. However, I believe there is serious discussion of adding D1 hockey at MSUM and, if that happens, could change their athletic landscape considerably. Isn’t there some sort of new small venue ice arena in Fargo?

Re: Sold Out?
They can't afford hockey, they can't even fund their football and basketball programs. It is very sad, the only game they played that anyone cared about was vs the Cobbers in football and for some reason that game isn't even happening anymore.northernfire wrote:MSUM has never been known to market their athletic programs but do quite well marketing their respective academics. They could play at the Scheels Arena in Urban Plains but like I said they can't afford the start up costs. Honestly the conference they would join probably wouldn't draw a lot of interest in Fargo anyway.
Re: Sold Out?
I think its called the Urban Plains Center. The Fargo Force play there. They have said Moorhead State would be welcome as a tenant.

Do you not think if MSUM students inturn went to NDSU some of them would be come a sports fan?FargoBison wrote:I agree about Cobber and Sioux fans, but MSUM students/alumni don't even give a **** about their very own athletic teams. That is more along the lines I was getting at.
If NDSU was FBS/BCS what have you and winning that wouldnt matter.
But no one cares about an FCS school they didnt go to.

That was quite obvious when only 2000 EWU fans showed up for a playoff game at home not on a holiday.kalm wrote: Cheney High School vultures fans from us.

1. School was not in session, so most students weren't around because they went home.Twentysix wrote:That was quite obvious when only 2000 EWU fans showed up for a playoff game at home not on a holiday.kalm wrote: Cheney High School vultures fans from us.
2. They went home because they thought we were playing a D-II team.
Re: Sold Out?
Missouri State sold out for their first game....
Oh, and we're probably 13,000 from a sell out for our home opener vs UNI

My kids high school averages over 2000 fans for regular season games. It's hard to get a grasp that a National Championship team drawing 2000 fans for a playoff game.Screamin_Eagle174 wrote:1. School was not in session, so most students weren't around because they went home.Twentysix wrote:
