Janzen Jackson now a McNeese Cowboy

Post by bonarae »

from the other site:
All conference defensive back Janzen Jackson, who was dismissed from the University of Tennessee squad earlier this week enrolled at McNeese today and will play for the Cowboys this fall...

Janzen's dad is Western Kentucky DC Lance Guidry,a former McNeese player and assistant coach. Janzen grew up around Cowboy Stadium and has a special relationship with the McNeese staff.

Janzen, who was a HS All-American at Barbe High School in Lake Charles, will begin practice with the team on Sunday, but won't make the trip to Lawrence, Kansas for the Cowboy's opener against the Jayhawks....Depending on how quickly he picks up the McNeese system, he might be see some action against Sioux Falls on September 17.....
All the Ivy League needs to become relevant again is to diversify its OOC schedule.

HUGE pick-up for McNeese. I'm officially....changing all McNeese conference picks to McNeese. Let it stand for the record.

Well, we'll see. First thing it makes me think of is when Cecil Collins got in trouble at LSU and transferred to McNeese. He really tore it up at LSU. I can still remember being on the road once listening on the radio as he tore Auburn a new anal spincter with the crowd getting so loud when he ran the ball that they drowned out the guys calling the game . But when he got to McNeese he didn't even win the starting running back job. Then he smoked a joint on the way to get drug tested and that was it for his college football career.

Other exploits as well.

Good grief man he's just one DB and he's a safety rather than a corner so it's not like they're getting that "lock down" corner that can change the whole defensive approach. But I guess you could be joking. Hard to tell on message boards.

Montana has booked some really poor DII teams. Teams that would get thrashed by a lot of NAIA teams. Didn't your momma tell you that people in glass houses should not throw stones?

Sioux Falls may have been playing in NAIA but they've only lost one game over the past three seasons and that was by 3 in last year's NAIA championship game. The last time they played a FCS-type opponent was in 2009 when they beat transitional North Dakota 28-13. North Dakota was not great but finished 6-5 that year including going 2-0 against McNeese's conference (27-20 over Northwestern State and 17-16 over Central Arkansas).

This is not a cupcake. It may not be like playing Appalachian State or Montana but it's not a cupcake.

No, I was not kidding. This kid may have legal problems or team issues, but he's a baller. He's a legit NFL Draft pick as safety and a big time ball hawk from the SEC. Darn right I'm taking McNeese in my conference picks now.

Interesting. To me one safety shouldn't make THAT much difference no matter how good he is. Now if it were a Patrick Peterson type who was a smothering cornerback and also a super duper special teams threat as a returner I'd see it differently. Well, in any case, I hope you turn out to be right about them winning the conference.
