I agree with these results. GSU has to beat Samford sooner or later.

Georgia Southern at Samford - much closer than folks think / best chance for an upset

Appalachian State at Virginia Tech - Appalachian wins by 42! / Beamer is fired in middle of 3rd qtr

Chattanooga at Nebraska - will be close into the second half until Neb realizes it's a real football game

Elon at Vanderbilt - a snoozerfest / first to score 17 points wins

Furman at Coastal - The Vermin win this and they could be undefeated and top 20 going into The Stink

Wofford at Presbyterian - the Ankle-Biters get 'Hosed but win by 13

Jacksonville at The Citadel - could the Bellhops winning streak end at one? .... nahhhh, but it will be close

I imagine that's about right except I look for Wofford to run wild over Presby.

Some of you guys DO realize that you are picking The Citadel to beat a team that is a preseason top 20 pick, right?

We are optimistic about our chances against Jacksonville, but a win over them likely means that we are good enough to be better than 4 and possibly 5 teams in the SoCon.

Picking us to beat Jacksonville is not consistent with picking us to be ahead of just WCU and Samford (or worse).

No, I am in fact talking about the JU Dolphins, not JSU. There was some confusion over their preseason ranking on our message board earlier. However, JU has two All Americans and did receive votes in the preseason rankings. In fact, they received more votes in a couple polls than more than half of the SoCon teams. They are not ranked, though.

Our defense is going to be good this year, probably significantly better than last year's. Last year I do not think we would have beaten JU. This year I am reluctant to call it, but if we do win I think we will be better than more than just two teams in the conference.

I think it will be worse than that. I look for Wofford to be really good this year and play with a chip on their shoulder. I can see them going undefeated in the conference.

If I was on that team I'd be carrying an attitude into this year that one bad half of football last year might have cost me a national title and have a purpose to correct that. I KNOW Ayers feels that way and that is a tough, seasoned, and talented group. IMO they are waaaaaaay underrated.

I do too....Ayers is sandbagging like crazy though, or at least I hope he is (it makes me nervous). We have a good chance to be special but we can't be caught up in the hype, we've always had trouble with that

Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I don't like that attitude. I can assure them it is much more serious than that.
