The starters for Tennessee may not be bigger but the overall speed and depth will take its toll. IMO Montana's starters will surprise Vol fans until they start to get pounded by SEC 2nd and 3rd string who are just as big. You can only take a pounding for so long before it wears you out. Montana needs to hang around which will put more and more pressure on UT the closer the game is in the 4th quarter.

The recruits on the lines haven't seemed to lose a lot of size in the transition from Bobby Ball to Pflu. If they can be as effective remains to be seen, but I doubt Montana will be losing it's 'big school size' in the transition...at least on the lines.

5'7" receivers seem to be coming out of the woodwork, though.

Janzen Jackson kicked off the team today. Big loss for Tennessee... big time player and their best on defense by far.

"not-your-older-brother's griz o-line" versus SEC d-line? FBS depth vs FCS depth? i know tennessee is down, but i'll bet they still have some size and speed defensively(..and, again, depth). i can see the griz defense getting a few stops here and there, but they're gonna be on the field A LOT. probably too much to keep it close.

Janzen jackson? Oh wow. That's a huge loss for the Dooley Vols & the Knoxville Knuckleheads.

With all the hype for Tyler Bray, maybe they win the UAB game again! :notworthy:

#75 is huge. If he can skate, the Carolina Hurricanes want him now in net.

His 'backup' only had 5 INTs last year, 60 tackles, runs a 4.5 forty, and was second team all-SEC last year :o

Jackson was not in school last Spring so Prentiss has been running with the def starters both in the Spring & Fall practices.

I hope Montana does well but the Magic 8-Ball sez 'outlook not so good.'

Derek Dooley is not an old-school coach like his dad. He'll lay 50 on yah without batting an eyelash. He probably drives his 2nd/3rd teamers harder than his starters. UT is still PO'ed about losing to Carolina and has aspirations of winning the SEC East. Don't think that will happen but they do have UGA and SC at home.

I know yah guys are proud of the atmosphere at Wa-Griz, but Neyland Stadium is a whole 'nother matter. Over the years they have dropped capacity to 103k - LOL. When the Big 'T' opens up and the Vols take the field, it's something to behold (and hear). The folks in east Tenn'see luv them Volunteers. If you want a look at Big Time college football you will be at the right place. Check out the UT sideline -- you'll swear they dressed out 140 guys (that's an exaggeration, of course, but not much of one). And then, there's Rocky Top ...

They'll play that damn song 70 times (on a slow day). And on big plays when the crowd is goin' crazy and the "Pride of the Southland" cranks up Rocky Top, you'll swear 100k of them are all singin' at the same time.

So ... go get 'em, Griz, but enjoy the ride and have some fun. It could get a little bumpy, though.
