Phil Kornblut visited Charleston Southern University as part of his annual Palmetto Pigskin Tour. This link contains two audio links. One is with head coach Jay Mills and the other is with team leaders Malcolm Dixon (QB) and Charles James (DB).
I like what Coach Mills had to say about the running game, Malcolm as the QB, the leadership on the team, competing for the Big South Championship, and not forgetting about our last game last season. I sense confidence from Coach Mills that this could be a very good team.
Might want to stop worrying about Mills and try to help HIggins figure out how to keep more players on the active roster than he has on the injured roster. Dogs seem to falling like trees the last week or so.
One of the day’s highlights was Director of Athletics Hank Small’s announcement of the new football and track & field facility to be built this season. The ground-breaking ceremony will be held during the University’s Homecoming Weekend on October 1. The Buccaneers will host Wesley College at 1:30 p.m. that weekend. The official announcement regarding the new facility will occur on Monday, August 15.
They've been talking about this project since the day they fielded a team 20 years ago. I don't see why they would suddenly hold themselves to a timetable now.
