For the life of me I can't figure out why personal finance isn't taught in schools as a mandatory subject. Of course, the whole education system was originally set up to produce workers...not thinkers.

And to some extent, I disagree with you about lower level cheaters not breaking the system. It is a numbers game. When you have a few people breaking rules and a lot of people sticking to generally acceptable behavior, it is a lot easier to correct things. However, when everyone decides they have no reason to act in a civl manner, then anarchy rules...see London riots and the recent flash mob violence in the US (probably using their free government provided cell phones to organize their mayhem ).

I'd much rather have a small number of white collar crooks taking big money than tens of millions of small minded violent crooks. Safer for me.
