Perry is alone among contenders as having done ACTUAL military service (in the Air Force). I do give him credit for that experience

Re: Perry makes it official- enters race
People who were never in the military are not supposed to return a salute with anything past a slight nod. This should be what President Obama should do.
That being said, I have never understood what is so damn important about whether or not a president or presidential candidate spent any time in the service or not, WTF with that shit? I only take notice when I see those who embellish the past service record of their partisan, ie George W. Bush's record with the National Guard.
The salute is lame Mr. President, lose it.

I don't think either of them is a serious contender despite being far superior to the current President

I only mention the service among those among the 7 top contenders, 6 that were at the debates (minus Pawlenty, + Perry).

The air force isn't really considered "military service" by those of us who actually DID serve in the military.BDKJMU wrote:Yes, he did. Right now there are 16 Republican candidates. We shouldn't assume, Wedgie. This appears to be one of this "camera caught him at the wrong moment" things. Fast forward a second or two and I bet it's a firm salute.

A proper salute is brought from the waist with your hand already in the proper position, is snappy, and snapped back down to the waist. The pansy-ass salutes normally rendered by our CinC's (Obama's not the ONLY one with this problem) are weak as shit and they really should just eliminate them. You're only supposed to salute when in uniform anyway.Cap'n Cat wrote:Wedgebuster wrote:People who were never in the military are not supposed to return a salute with anything past a slight nod. And the remaining 21 years was spent at a recruiting office in a strip mall in Flagstaff.
