Two simple questions....

If society has an obligation to the underclass, what obligation does the underclass have to society?

How can anyone sanely expect someone to work 40 hours a week at a 7-11 when they can maintain the same lifestyle sitting on their pathetic, non-productive asses?

Poverty is not as easy as Tman makes it out to be, especially for women. The lazy bums you see on the street corners or the tenants in Tbag's neighbor's building are the exception and make up a small fraction of the poor. Most poor are women and children, the elderly, the mentally ill, veterans and working families.

What does the underclass owe to society? To try. Most do to. The few that don't are used as poster children to keep the middle class distracted while greedy conks to steal their money and give it to defense contractors and Wall Street.

So lets put income figures into that, just for fun. According to a similar table posted yesterday, if a wage earner makes more than 35,000 a year, that puts them in the TOP 50% OF ALL WAGE EARNERS. So there is still 50% out there earning LESS than 35,000 a year.

Tell me again how we can squeeze out trillions of dollars a year in taxes out of folks living right at and below the poverty level.

Now I have very little against giving food stamps to those that need them, but do they just allow whatever food to be bought without any limits? And if not, how do the people get by the system? It seems like everytime I'm behind someone in line who's using them, it looks like 30% of the food is beneficial and 70% is junk. Maybe not though...that's just my perception of it.

I look at what anybody and everybody buys at the grocery store, and more than 70% of all of it is junk. People do not know how to prepare meals themselves these days, regardless of their financial status.
