Now in his fifth season at Southern University, senior linebacker Corey Ray knows the drill. He’s used to it.

Every preseason, he said, players and coaches naturally believe they’ll be better than they were the year before.

“We said the same thing during camp last year,” Ray said.

when your coach tells the media you're going 12-0 and you proceed to have the worst record in school history (including getting thrashed by a 3-8 D-II team). You're going to be pretty jaded.

I wish you guys could have seen how big the defensive playbook was last year. Those guys were so confused before the snap they never stood a chance when the action started. Plus they couldn't tackle. I can't even see how they won those two games.
