I care about the overall process. I don't care that Pawlenty was in the race or that he has now left the race. Did anyone even notice that he was in the race? Also how could such a bland milquetoast ever get elected to anything? There was more emphasis on the "who" than on the "cares".OL FU wrote:No offense Monarch but I am always amazed when some one cares enough to open the thread and post that they don't careTheDancinMonarch wrote:Who (cares)?![]()

I care about Pawlenty. He seems like a nice guy but I agree someone should have told him to stay home

I'll agree with the "nice guy" description but I think Leo Durocher had it right when he said, "Nice guys finish last." or get out of the race first.OL FU wrote:TheDancinMonarch wrote:

He probably didn't stand a chance, but he also didn't realize that the winner of the IA Straw Poll has only won the big prize ONCE. There's still plenty of time to sway voters before the convention.

Re: Pawlenty Calls It Quits
Not that he ever really had a chance, but his fate was sealed when he acted like a coward to Romney and wouldn't repeat his "Romneycare" analogy during the debate. Then he tried to get in a slapfight with Bachmann and she came out looking like the bigger person. Timmy reminded me of the kid in grade school who yanks a girl's ponytail in frustration being a given a swirlie in the boys lockerroom. In other words, he reminded me of an adolescent Citdog.....

Being a native Pennsylvanian now for almost 30 years - it amuses me that Santorun is even running, much less still in it - he got trounced in his last Senatorial bid & was labeled as a fringe or wacko guy...

Well, that's better than a "community organizer" (whatever that is) with NO executive experience who has ratcheted the FEDERAL deficit several TRILLIONS of dollars.Cap'n Cat wrote:The clown commandeered a $6.2 BILLION budget deficit in Minnesota before quitting and he was going to run for President?????

Re: Pawlenty Calls It Quits
Pawlenty was done in by HORSESHIT fundraising. He never threw enough red meat to the base, or threw enough elbows to convince too many people that he would "take it to" obama...
I always saw a path for him - as the candidate everyone settled on after they realized that Bachmann and Co. were too distasteful for general election voters - The John Kerry strategy.
That door is still open for Romney - he's well positioned to take up this mantle - but I can't help but wonder if the Repubs will snap out of their fervor and frenzy soon enough - or if they will really ride someone like Bachmann or Perry over the cliff... I used to think there were still enough rational actors in the GOP to stop the train... I'm just not as sure now.

The libs might have labeled him a fringe or wacko guy, but they do that for most Republicans. If the libs DON'T label a Republican a fringe or wacko guy then that sends up red flags, meaning that Republican is likely a RHINO.bluehenbillk wrote:Being a native Pennsylvanian now for almost 30 years - it amuses me that Santorun is even running, much less still in it - he got trounced in his last Senatorial bid & was labeled as a fringe or wacko guy...

I used to think there were enough "mainstream" conservatives to stem the tide away from the fringe - people like George Will (who is also rounding the bend a bit sadly) or even Mitch Daniels, but they have been shunted to point that is so much worse than when I left the Party 11 years ago...Rob Iola wrote:Who did you have in mind?TwinTownBisonFan wrote:...
