EWU Schedule

Post by PenthouseClosedEnd »

I'm sorry if this has already been discussed but how in the f does the defending National Champion only get 4 home games? First home game is 9-24 and the last is 10-29. Wow.

We alternate between 6 and 5. This is a 5 year. We're playing @UW, and the game @Cal Poly was already scheduled as a home and home, and we go there first. My guess is we had trouble filling that last spot (it was still open late in Jan), as our AD didn't want another D-II game, and USD would only agree if we came there (probably afraid of our 8-0 record on the red). It's not easy finding OOC if you're out West, unless you're willing and can afford to travel across the country. We overcame a lot of adversity last year, we'll do it again this year. Road Warriors National Championship tour.

USD has made quite the rep so far of getting ptetty good names to play them as ooc games-but only on their terms. Mostly because they waited for schools that were needing games badly enough that USD can name the price. They did so with UNI, to an extent with UNI wanting 1 game, USD said home and home our no game, then the 2-1 was worked out.

We have six. Seattle and Missoula are just an unusually long commute.

We have quite a few Western Washington kids and I think the team is really looking forward to playing the Huskies in front of a bunch of friends and family.

SE is right. It boils down to a meaningless 5th home game against a DII that could hurt you come playoff selection time versus a very winnable road game that won't.

Which would you choose?

because they average 4000 fans in that craphole. No reason to go there unless you need some crack from the cheney people.

The addition of Cal Poly to the Big Sky actually screwed up Eastern's scheduling as Cal Poly had already been contracted as a home/home and Eastern must travel in 2011 and only get a return conference game in 2012.

I have no idea why they waited until zero hour and got forced into a one-game roadie with South Dakota, but that's exactly what happened. I know the AD reached out to several schools, including Mississippi Valley State who has a bye that week, but couldn't come to terms for a home-home or just a single game in Cheney. The only D-II that would play us on that date was Central Washington, who was willing to move a game to set an Eastern date. That is a bad risk game, playing one of the top DII teams annually.

Our AD has done a LOT of things right, but this schedule isn't one of them. This is about as unfavorable a schedule as you can get. It sure would be nice to have one of those crappy FCS non-schollie programs to beat on.

And FYI... lakesbison is a tool.

7,492 to be exact. :dunce: :dunce: :dunce: More than 60 other FCS programs out there including several CAA and MVFC schools. :coffee:

Next to Lafayette beating the Bison, nothing would make me more happy than to have NDSU come back to Cheney in the playoffs. I'd bring the Fette and chips.

The schedule's not the greatest.....but as others have pointed out, we alternate between 5 and 6 home games every year based on the conference schedule. Would have been nice to get an FCS at home, but it seems there weren't too many choices. So, it was either a D-II at home, or go on the road to play another FBS game. No thanks. The USD game isn't a gimmee, but it appears it's a game we could have a decent shot to win, even on the road, so it wasn't a bad game to schedule. My only gripe is that it should have been a home and home deal, although I am not sure that we had any open dates in 2012.

And  at the Lakesbison comment.....I wasn't aware that there were any posters left on this site that don't have him on ignore. ;)
