GannonFan wrote:From a fan standpoint how can you not like this? First of all, it's not going up against anything - not going up against the Cotton Bowl in the same city, and the NFL playoffs that start then don't have a game until something like 4 or 4:30. Second, having it on a Saturday is a huge, huge benefit for a fan trying to get down to the game. Rather than having to take 1-2 days off from work or school, now you could conceivably not have to take any time off and still get to go to the game. January is still the better time as you actually can take a breath and make plans to get there, as opposed to scrambling to get to a game in 6 days. And, if that 1PM start is Eastern time, that means that the game starts at 12 Noon central time which means, that's right, SCRAPPLE for the pre-game tailgate!!!!!!!

I think we're all so conditioned to complain about the NCAA that when they actually make a real good decision like this one that we automatically pooh-pooh it - in reality, this is a win for most everyone. Way to go, NCAA!!!! :notworthy:
Yep, I agree! Good date for the game.
Dear Lord, We come before you and humbly ask you to grant our prayer for a veil of protection to be placed over Donald Trump. May your will be done. In Jesus name we pray. Amen

Better for attendance and TV ratings. Great decision by the NCAA(can't remember the last time I said that).

Not exactly—it was on Saturday up through 2000. It was scheduled for Saturday in '01, but was pushed to the following Friday because of the 9/11 delays. It's been on Friday ever since.

This.

A Saturday afternoon kickoff in December would be good.

I also agree with the back to December thing.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

I propose this...

Package the TV rights for both the FCS and BCS Championships together (I know they are two seperate entities so there are some complexities there). Have the FCS Championship the night before the BCS Championship, have it during prime time, and have it in the very same stadium.

The FCS game, as always, would draw the fans of the two teams playing in it. But it would also draw a significant number of fans from the two schools in the BCS game. A large number of the BCS fans would already be in town anyway. As far as TV production cost go, I would think that would be minimized as the production crews/facilites are being put in place for the BCS game anyway. Now its just a day earlier.

Adverstisers may get a little more bang for their buck as well, as there is now more air time to buy.

Thoughts??

Well, that leaves time now for fans of the 2 teams to meet up at the 3rd Base Sports Bar and Grill, one location Arlington and one location Frisco, the Fri night before the game. Less than 5 miles from the stadium.

God Bless Texas!

my statement was only to answer the post clenz made. I doubt there will be much interest in that bowl outside of the fans of Kentucky and whoever they play this season.
