Here's the deal, Einstein. The guy in Fort Hood was in a building a long fucking way from the front gate. Most weapons on military bases are locked inside weapons lockers or the armory for safekeeping. To think that all guys run around the base with guns strapped to their hips is ludicrous. Now, the base cops have guns, but they're not the guys standing watch at the front gate. And there's times where the gate guards have guns, but that depends on what level of DEFCON they're at.

a) as I said, there ARE times where the guards are armed, but it depends on what level of DEFCON they're at.
b) even if the guards WERE armed, they're not leaving their post to respond to a shooting on base. They have their OWN responsibilities at the front gate...that's what base police are for.

Those places are usually at FPCON Normal. Here, were always at FPCON Bravo. There's a lot of interest into what goes on here, particulary the role that his area plays in the GWOT. Fort Hood and MCAS Yuma, might not have a need for high levels of readiness.

Jeff, go back and read what I posted. My posts agree with you to an extent, you fat fuck. There are police, patrolling bases, armed. Every base i've been to (with the exception of a few) have had armed guards. Were there random soldiers walking around with M16's and frag grenades? Of course not. There isn't the need. The base I work on has a need. Nuclear capabilities, Brig, GWOT detainees. Fort Hood might be a different level of readiness.
