Woo hoo!! John McCain is back!

Post by Skjellyfetti »

This is the John McCain circa 2000 that I wish won the presidency. Where the fuck has he been the past 11 years? We've needed him. :notworthy:

I've said before there was no way McCain could be as bad as Obama has. Now I'm not so sure. :ohno:

What he doesn't realize is that his "can't make up my mind if I want to be a democrat or a republican" kind of replubican is what spawned the Tea party. While I agree with him on this issue, he needs to look in the mirror because he and McConnell and most of the republican leadership, along with the democrats, in the house and senate put us in the this fucking mess.

I think McCain's a very decent guy and a fine Senator, however, he is real flighty when it comes to his convictions and his pursuits. He just isn't leadership material, plain and simple. He doesn't inspire, he doesn't bring people along, he doesn't step into the front and lead. In that regard, I don't see how he'd be any better than Obama has been, which was why I voted for Obama in the first place. McCain's just too wishy-washy - that whole fiasco with stopping his campaign to go back to Washington during the election run-up was just quintissential McCain - no real feel for what needs to be done and when to do it. He's tone-deaf politically and it's what will always keep him as a Senator, nothing more.

I salute John McCain for his military service to our country. :thumb:

Other than that he is a typical establishment politician that needs to be shown the door. :ohno:

And Obama is leadership material?

As I said above, I'm now thinking maybe McCain could have been as bad as Obama, which I know, is pretty bad. But I don't think he could have been worse. After all, at least McCain had military & exec leadership experience, which Obama had none of. You voted for Obama thinking Obama would be better? Silly.

Obama at least had the potential to inspire people and bring them along. Just because he has apparently chosen not to do that as President does not mean that he didn't have the potential. McCain never had that potential. For all of McCain's experience, we've known for years he didn't have the potential. Obama, for better or for worse (leaning towards the latter now) was more of a blank slate (no pun intended).

What kind of jack fucking shit did Bush do? Seems to me like he cut revenue, increased spending, and started a war with the wrong country.

Is that the kind of jack fucking shit you are looking for?

Just curious.

I never said Bush was better.

However, the amount of spending and where we are right now with our national debt proves this fucker in office right now isn't any better

I agree - my wife tells me that all the time. However, I still haven't seen anything from McCain that would make me want to vote for him over Obama. I'm not wrong about that.

So a guy who's led men into combat isn't "leadership material"? Yet a guy who was a "community organizer" (whatever the heck THAT is) and NOTHING ELSE before he got into politics IS?!?

That has got to be the most ignorant statement I've ever heard.

If McCain was whole and was 21 years old again and I needed someone to lead a unit into combat, I'd pick him. But that doesn't translate into political leadership, which was the job I didn't pick him for. Plenty of military leaders would suck as political leaders *cough* Wesley Clark *cough*.

So you still think Obama is doing a better job than McCain would have?

Plus, I thought you'all so called independents & moderates were against either side having a super majority, you know, the whole going too far to the left or right type of thing.

After listening the last two years I fully believe if McCain had been president we would be fighting the war on terror on about 7 different fronts.

As much as I dislike Obama's domestic policies, I really would not want McCain to be president.

Yes, as bad as Obama's been, I still think McCain would've been worse.

As for the supermajority, I think I've been pretty clear that I think the supermajority was one of the worst things to happen to Obama's presidency. No focus in the first year as they dithered on a crappy health care bill while ignoring the economy faltering around them. Wasted opportunity.

And don't forget to mention who his running mate was.

Our local resident shills provide tons of laughs on here with broad statements about how "anybody" can beat Obama in 1012, and how "anybody" would be better, or how McCain/Palin would be better, and how this is the worst president ever, yada, yada, yada.

You only have to go back to the last president, remember the one who reduced revenues while upping spending, who started a war with a country that had nothing to do with the terror attacks that were the excuse for starting the war, who could not even read a teleprompter, or speak the English language, who reigned over the time of the largest shift of wealth in our nation's history, who left office with the eminent threat of a full blown depression bearing down on us and the world.

Conks!
