The Montana program is on the downward spiral. They lost to MSU and EWU and barely got by a D2 ala UND last season if memory serves me well. They have agreed to play in Fargo next season I think. NDSU will return the favor and travel to WashGriz.

I think it was MSU that backed out of the away side with NDSU. They had the right too, just like GSU, but it doesnt say much for them. MSU on the other hand has agreed to play in Fargo as well, so all is right with the scheduling with the BSC.

This is a pretty good opportunity for the Montana schools. They can play there jr bowl with UND and then step onto the Big Stage with NDSU.

Your memory doesn't serve you so well or you have a strange understanding of "barely got by." 27-17 Montana who outgained UND 421 to 209. Montana's worst season in 18 years was 7-4 with all four losses very winnable. One year does not make a spiral; Montana has been to the NC two of the last three years, NDSU?

Absolute none-sense NDSU has a fabulous rivalry with the Gophers.

2) Envy from the rest of namby pamby FCS.

NDSU is a top FCS program, admired by all. The NDSU program is a superb business model many schools have studied and implemented. It includes an impressive scheduling model excluding intra-divisional (D2, NAIA etc) games so common in the weaker FCS conferences.

3) Hostile and abusive arch rivals to the North that have owned you recently and historically.

NDSU has had many great rivals over the years. Fargo College was our rival in the early years. We no longer play them. UND was our rival as well. They quit the series in 2004. Why? Who knows, but they had been getting beat up pretty regularly since 1965.

4) Non-counter 10-1 seasons, one of which was ruined by the Bunnies

NDSU and SDSU share a strong bond. The two schools compete annually for the Football Championship of the Dakotas. Its the largest sporting event ever in the Dakotas. Now that USD has joined the Big Dakota 3 will engage in a round robin for the title of Best College Football Team in the Dakotas.

5) Bill Fette

Bill Fette is indeed an embarassment, but thats not NDSUs problem.

6) D2 championships from 30 years ago that no-one cares about

NDSU has a proud athletic tradition. Achievements from the past are to be viewed with honor. This rich tradition is carrying NDSU forward today as they establish themselves as a dominate force in their various Division 1 conferences including the MVFC and the Summit League.

7) Winless against new (arch?) rival UNI

The 3 game win streak that UNI has over NDSU is one of the most unlikely records in the history of sports.

8) Montana not playing at NDSU

Montana is scheduled to play in fargo in 2014. It took them a while to agree to that game but who could blame them after what happened in 2003. The BISON Victory over Montana was national news and another great chapter in THE BISON LORE.

9) Montana fans being dicks and not accepting your awesomeness

NDSU respects all fan bases and practices sportsman ship at the highest level. The NDSU "awesomeness" was earned on the field in 2003 and has affected the Montana fan base is some pretty profound and unpleasant ways.

NDSU enjoys strong relationships with all of the athletic programs in the NCAA.

11) Big Sky rejection of NDSU

NDSU applied for membership in the BSC and was denied because of location. It was a let down. Continued hard work by the NDSU Athletic Conglomerate and NDSUs outstanding relationships inside the college athletic community led to far better options than playing out west somewhere in a bottom heavy conference with the closest competitor 1,000 miles and a time zone or two away. It would have been a very expensive situation and the BSC was wise.

12) Big Sky acceptance of UND

NDSU is glad UND is in the Big Sky. The Big 3 Dakota schools: NDSU, SDSU and USD will compete annually for the de facto college football title of the Dakota Territories. The Big Sky schools can all review their travel budgets for the privilege of having UND in your conference. Of course the BSC was hoping to get USD, a school needed in the Summit and MVFC. The BSC was completly out-maneuvered by NDSU and its associates.

13) North Dakota jokes

NDSU fans have a legendary sense of humor. Many ethnic type jokes are enjoyed including poking a little fun at our neighbors in Montana and Iowa.

15) No hockey championships

NDSU had a proud hockey tradition ending in 1932 because of the depression. There are about 15 schools playing D1 college hockey and D1 college football.

Considering that ndsu was never mentioned in the radio interview, this thread is clear evidence of ndsu's UNI envy. When will the prairie cows ever get over their obsession with UNI?

We should envy them, they own the MVFC and have won 15 of 25 conference titles.
