UNI & NDSU eyes the MAC
from Panthernation.com
on Iowa radio today. UNI coach Farley mentioned possibly moving up to the FBS sometime in the future. He mostly said that people need to be forward-looking, realize that things are changing. They seemed to target the MAC as a likely destination with teams such as Toledo, Ball State, Northern Illinois, and the directional Michigans for example.
NDSU & UNI to the MAC, sounds good!
NDSU already proved they would be in top of the MAC by beating MAC champ Central Michigan 34-14 3 years ago, and Ball State the year before that!!

Re: UNI & NDSU eyes the MAC
Oh, please. The MAC is NOTHING. Everyone here dumps on Liberty, but the Flames took out Ball State.

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.
Re: UNI & NDSU eyes the MAC
NDSU should focus on coming up with a winning record in the MVC. Appears to be elusive. I guess if you can't get above .500 in an FCS conference, try something else.lakesbison wrote:NDSU already proved they would be in top of the MAC by beating MAC champ Central Michigan 34-14 3 years ago, and Ball State the year before that!!

Hey, its FBS and uni/NDSU would be top 2-3 teams/programs from the start!!
bla bla bla .500 in the toughest fcs conference, 2-0-1 in playoffs is all that counts. kemajlic, dont be all salty that we crushed your rivals on their home turf.

Re: UNI & NDSU eyes the MAC
First off, the interview had no mention of NDSU as far as I am aware.
Second, way to steal a post from PantherNation.com - word for word - that you didn't make, not link it, and claim it as your own. For the full thread follow the link http://www.panthernation.com/showthread.php?t=40611" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, the post lakes plagerized is originally written by JazzPanther at 6:30PM - http://www.panthernation.com/showpost.p ... ostcount=4" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Third, to pull the very next post in that thread from a a poster who goes by 9yrplan "in all fairness to coach, marty (the radio guy doing the interview) completely led him into his answer. i dont know if that was planned ahead of time or not. it is obvious to anyone who pays attention that FBS football at UNI is a pipe dream at this point. "
Fourth, to expand on the point 9yr made in his post about FBS being a pipe dream at UNI. Last year UNI paid a outside consulting firm to look at the pros and cons of moving to the FBS, as well as moving to D2. It was determined that moving D2 would cause more harm that I care go to into right now to the athletic department - and likely the full university. That same study concluded that moving to the FBS, given the financial status of UNI (and pretty much every MAC/WAC/Sun Belt/CUSA team) there would not be enough increased revenue from ticket sales and bowl tie-ins to offset the cost of getting the UNIDome to FBS standards (one of the best FCS stadiums...yeah yeah yeah shit about no dome is good or whatever), but there would need to be major renovations to accommodate a lot of things that go with being FBS. The dome needs all new scoreboards, the sound system works but depends on where you are sitting as to how well you can make out what is said, there is a lack of women restrooms for the 13-16k we draw every week. Assuming there is even a small bump to selling out the dome every week at 17K there is not enough concession or restroom available for that every week. By the time that is all done UNI is better off building a 25-30K seat stadium. That cost, plus the costs of the extra scholarships for men, and women, adding more womens sports, increased pay for coaches and more coaches, having to probably double the travel budget because of the size of the MAC compared to the MVFC (keep in mind UNI buses to a good number of MVFC road games)...and coupled with what the Iowa Board of Regents is doing to funding for UNI compared to Iowa and Iowa State (although moving to the MAC may cause more support from some of the douchier BOR members than being MVC/MVFC even though it is a step back in every sport from UNI compared to the level of play in the MVC in all of our sports) and it is a giant no-go from UNI for years and years and years...unless some very crazy shit happens.
Bottom line is UNI will be FCS until there is no more FCS, the B12 is beyond desparate - which probably means giant realignment all over the place which would likely mean no more FCS, or UNI somehow finds about 20 million dollars laying around somewhere to start to front the move monitarily.
Once again lakes proves he know jack shit about what he is talking about.

Re: UNI & NDSU eyes the MAC
That certainly sums up everything I thought about the UNI program. So, I guess it will be YSU and NDSU? These are the biggest programs in the MVFC anyway.
Dear Lord, We come before you and humbly ask you to grant our prayer for a veil of protection to be placed over Donald Trump. May your will be done. In Jesus name we pray. Amen

I think I'm coming down with a form of Stockholm Syndrome because I'm beginning to sympathize with you NDSU fans (JBB and lakes).
1) Disrespected by high and mighty Gopher fans.
2) Envy from the rest of namby pamby FCS.
3) Hostile and abusive arch rivals to the North that have owned you recently and historically.
4) Non-counter 10-1 seasons, one of which was ruined by the Bunnies
5) Bill Fette
6) D2 championships from 30 years ago that no-one cares about
7) Winless against new (arch?) rival UNI
8) Montana not playing at NDSU
9) Montana fans being dicks and not accepting your awesomeness
10) #9, except replace Montana with team _______
11) Big Sky rejection of NDSU
12) Big Sky acceptance of UND
13) North Dakota jokes
14) The movie Fargo not being filmed in Fargo
15) No hockey championships
If I had that many chips on my shoulder I'd think everyone was out to get me too

I don't know...maybe the Griz would watch the EWU tape...or the UNI tape...or the Western Illinois tape...or the Illinois St tape...or the Missouri St tape and (fingers crossed) maybe come up with a plan to beat the mighty Bison!

Re: UNI & NDSU eyes the MAC
First of all, nobody is "eying the MAC". If you would actually hear the fucking interview, and listen to the context of the question, Coach Farley was pretty much led into the answer by the interviewer and he was just basically saying we need to keep and open mind regarding these things and need to be forward thinking for the future. He NEVER said that we are looking to make a move, he NEVER said we want to go to the MAC. He said if we were to ever make a move, it would be in a MAC type conference. UNI is not going anywhere.
Secondly, nobody ever mentioned NDSU. Why do you do this every GD time someone mentions FBS football? Nobody wants NDSU to be their tagalong. It aint happening.
