Those Wacky Greeks!

Post by Ivytalk »

A violent nationwide general strike to protest the austerity measures required by the EU as a condition of the next bailout. What a nation of hirsute, ouzo-swilling, guvmint-addicted junkies. They haven't done anything for world civilization since the age of Sophocles. Let 'em go under.

Q: How do you separate the men from the boys in Greece? A: With a crowbar!

I was listening to BBC radio on the way back to DC from Boone today. They broke down the vote in the Greek parliament. Their MPs are about 52% - 48% conservative vs. socialist. I loved hearing the comments from the Socialist MPs about how their social spending could have been supported, but but but... it's those corporatists that keep getting in the way of the utopia that runaway social spending can create if they are just allowed to have their way!

This is going to happen everywhere, by the way. No government is going to change until the reality of the situation is unavoidable.

Greece's creditors are rolling over the debt and doing nothing more than delaying the inevitable. They might as well default now and get it over with. The markets have largely priced in a Greek default anyway.

What's with all the Citadel interest in the Greeks? :winky:

Q: Why do Greek men hate to leave their mother country?
A: Because they were reared there, and they hate to leave their little brothers behind!

You mean Merle Haggard? Wrong. And he's not Greek, so what's your point, Knobbo?

No, I'm talking about Merle Hazard (John Shayne) who is indeed a Harvard Man.
