Yeah. US Women are ranked #1 in the world and are the favorites to win it.

Plus, I have a thing for Alex Morgan... so, I'll definitely be tuning in for this.

Being on Euro soil, I wouldn't say we are favorites to win it. Ranked #1 yes, but I would have to think Germany is the favorite.

Been a long 12 years since seeing Chastain rip off her top...Need to get the Cup back home

Going to be one hell of a group to try and get through. Suffering loses to England and Mexico leading up to this leave plenty of room for doubts.

Center midfield is going to be the key. Rock solid defense led by Rampone and a great attack led by Wambach and Amy Rodriquez. Hopefully Boxx and Lloyd can control the middle and keep things at bay for the defense.

Should be a great first match with North Korea on Tuesday, June 28

Thing is, it doesn't really happen like that in most of the levels that kids would ever play at. Sure the play acting at the International level and top professional leagues is absurd and an embarassment, but that's not even part of the game at any levels that kids under 18 play at.

With that said, the women's World Cup, and I'm sure I'm being sexist, is just amazingly bland soccer. It's the same reason why watching women's basketball is tough. To each their own, but I'm turning it off after the national anthems.

O Canada is awesome, but they really should replace it with Disney's O Canada song...

Funny thing about women's (girl's) soccer - it's far more watchable at the club level than it is at the "pro" or international level. Marta for Brazil can do some pretty cool tricks ("dribbling" downfield by bouncing the ball on her head), and Mia Hamm in her prime was at another level, but other than that it's just plain lousy soccer...

Canada falls just short against Germany
Germany 2 Canada 1

While this match ended up as the German victory that most pundits had predicted, Canada legitimately served notice that they are a genuine contender for a World Cup title and showed just how far they have come as a team in recent years.

Considering that Canada lost 5-0 to Germany the last time the teams met in a World Cup, this was an impressive performance by the Canadians, especially given the circumstances. While there is no point in speculating how this one might have turned out if Sinclair had been able to finish her early chance in the German box, it was plain to see that with some better finishing and a couple of instances of better defending on the German goals, Canada could have come out of this one with a victory or at least a draw.

Much as it pains me to say it, Mexico put on quite the display of grit, determination, and flat out mastery against the US the other day (and pleasantly free of the diving - guess it helps that Blanco's gone) - but yes, the WC is crap - capped off with that pathetic display of thugery exhibited by the Dutch against Barca, er, the Spanish national team...

After an inspiring effort in defeat against Germany in their opening match at the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup, win or go home time arrived for Canada much earlier than the side truly deserved. With France having won their opening Group A fixture against Nigeria, Canada’s second group match ultimately became the match which would determine whether or not the much heralded Canadian team would make it through to the Knockout stages.
