#2 The jist of what I've seen is that MSU is NOT ready to jump and that will hinder Montana's ability to jump. EWU, Weber, or Cow Poly would all probably be better selections than MSU at this point.

How? MSU is going to be averaging 19,000-20,000 this year, more than double those other schools. Our media market is not huge (obviously), but they pretty much own half the state, which is more than can be said about any of the 2012 WAC teams that are in larger media markets but no-one there cares/they're in the shadow of larger programs. Cal Poly maybe, but not WSU or EWU

I think it has more to do with the added cost of more scholarships and Title IX. Montana has stated those concerns and Montana St will be no different. There was some article on politics not wanting Montana to move without Montana St.

I explained to them that all of the CSUs and UCs are set to take a $20 million cut from the state. Fresno St. will drop 20 schollies from who give a fuck sports to help cover the loss. So I'm still waiting for an answer on that board how any CA school can afford to add and maintain 22 more mens and another 22 womens schollies. I can't see any school laying off teachers and turning away students shelling out money to move up(figuratively BSky and WAC'12 look related to me) in fb.

They won't die, they have 9 schools and 7 for fb, they need an 8th by 2014. Lamar and SHSU are laying on the bed naked waiting to be taken. Plus UVU and CSUB still want in too.

You know most of the SJSU fans shouldn't be allowed to post. They think that Lamar is being left out because the can still get UNT, ULL, and CA Big Sky schools or the Montanas.

The Western WAC members want WESTERN teams. NDSU and UNI are not Western.

Montana, MSU and UNI are no-where close to being able to afford a move up. NDSU is too geographically isolated to be attractive to the WAC

For FBS conferences, NDSU is in a bad location. The only alternatives for a FCS move-up in your area are MAC and WAC, neither which are close.

Speaking in strictly geographical terms (and ignoring reality for a second), the UXDs and XDSUs would probably fit in well with the Big Ten. Taken together, they would be a good fit with Minnesota.

But the odds on that happening? Probably a googolplex to one or higher.

SJSU has struggled to be competitive in FBS and losing their geographic rivals in ‘12 won't help their attendance numbers. Coming fresh of a 1-11 season and with severe budget cuts looming, they will need to turn it around quickly if they want to hang onto their football program.
