4 home games?
Has a team ever made the playoffs with that schedule?

The way this year's conference schedule worked out, it would have been a 5 home game season. We could have scheduled our usual D-II for another home game, but I guess they figured it might be more to our advantage to schedule another playoff counter, so they went with South Dakota.Silenoz wrote:4 home games?

A lot of people are pissed off about it, but when you consider we have a game in Seattle and then the game in Missoula that are both within reasonable distance, it's not too bad.
It sucks that it worked out that way, but if it came down to a choice between playing an FCS on the road and another home game against a D-II, I'm glad we went with a game that will counts if we win it.

Helluva lot better than playing NAIA and DIII.EWURanger wrote:The way this year's conference schedule worked out, it would have been a 5 home game season. Oh, well, at least it gives us 6 home games in the new soccer stadium in Portland. No one will watch but at least we got 6 home games there.

You know what's weird Jalmond? I remember when Portland State was a hot draw when they were DII and bringing in 12,000 per game to possibly the worst stadium in the country--- the old Civic Stadium in Portland, with it's old baseball layout and turf-over-paved-concrete infield.
I'm not sure why they haven't been able to rekindle any of that excitement, the stadium has gotten a lot better (when they're not playing in Hillsboro) and the much-improved opposition typically brings a few fans of their own. Eastern has always brought anywhere from 1,500-2,500... heck, Eastern had significantly more fans than Portland State when they played in the Burrito this year.
I think the hiring of Jerry Glanville was supposed to be a return to Pokey Allen-style promotion, but it didn't work out as Glanville never produced the results to mesh with the personality.

wow, that not only sucks for the players but for the fans having only 4 opportunities all season to see their team play. They are the defending National Champs...I'm sure they'll be just fine.

Like has been mentioned before, @UW and @UM are both around 3 hour trips West and East of us, so dedicated EWU fans should have no problem taking in 6 games. It might be a great thing in that traditionally we haven't had very good fan support... we'll sell out our first game or come close, then the attendance drops each successive game. With only 4 home games and coming off a National Championship, the supply/demand should hopefully raise our attendance for those 4 games.ODUalum11 wrote:wow, that not only sucks for the players but for the fans having only 4 opportunities all season to see their team play. good points, if you guys struggle to sell out 4 games this year there are some serious problems. Plus all the road games might be good preperation for the playoffs...ASSUMING you guys even make it to the playoffs.Screamin_Eagle174 wrote:Like has been mentioned before, @UW and @UM are both around 3 hour trips West and East of us, so dedicated EWU fans should have no problem taking in 6 games.
