SoCon and Big South DENIES UNCC football-only membership

Do we know how the schools voted?

From the available sources there hasn't been a vote yet. Just a pretty solid indication it won't be in our favor when the SoCon Presidents meet on June 16th.

As for the Big South it doesn't appear a vote on us took place or that we even made a presentation. From the only source we have (David Scott - Charlotte Observer) seems there was a phone call between Judy and Kallander. That's it.

As long as UNC-C lets it be known they have almost no intention of FCS they are SOL when it comes to finding a home. Maybe the Great West will get desperate enough to take them

Charlotte will do fine as an Independent. I see them following the South Florida model. Charlotte and Tampa are very comparable. They will end up with the big boys eventually.......I see Big East Football in their future.

Not even TCU will be able to rescue the morass of Fail that is Big East 'BCS' football. VTech, BC & The 'U' got out while the gettin' was good. No way will the BE hang their football hat on an FCS start-up after they drag the Frogs down to the BE level of football mediocrity.

Same goes for the BE and UNCC on the hardwood (if they don't turn it around). Adding a 2-14 A-10 squad, on top of the likes of adding TCU b-ball, built on top of the woeful b-ball additions of the last five years, drags the once-proud BE basketball tradition further into the crapper.

It will take years for the Big East to rebuild their basketball cred after the LOL-Fail of the 2011 NCAAs.

We always have to start with the Big Ten. Yes, they will be going to 16 members eventually........

The Big East had a record 11 teams make the NCAAs this year ... remind me again how many made it past the first weekend ??

Charlotte, believe it or not, you are better off staying out of the SuckCon.
The only benefit of the SuckCon is the auto-bid to the playoffs, and if your sites are on FBS as soon as possible anyway, then who really cares about playoffs?
Something tells me that Charlotte fans are not crying in their beers about missing trips to Wofford, Elon, Samford, and WCU anyway.

That's probably true, much like Coastal Carolina. You're absolutely right about having a leg up on App and most everybody else because of your media market, as well as the ease of access by air to Charlotte. Problems with visiting teams' having difficulty accessing flights/buses and traveling to Boone might be the biggest obstacle that App has to overcome if they really want that C-USA bid.

USF had the advantage of use of a Super Bowl-level facility in Tampa to use. UNCC will never play in B of A Stadium as long as Richardson isn't pulling in most of the gate and concession money.
