VCU should at least start at NCAA D3 Level. There are a lot of competitive Virginia schools in that division. Christopher Newport, Hampden-Sydney, Washington and Lee, Randolph-Macon and Bridgewater have been ranked nationally.
Heck I think Mount Union is better than Towson.
But I suppose when they're ready they'll start at the FCS level.
Any news on the uniform and helmet design?

Can't happen according to NCAA mandate. As VCU is classified as a D-I school, if they were to start a FB program, it would have to compete at the D-I level. In their transitional start-up phase, they would likely play several sub-D-I opponents.

Serious question....why is ODU so envious of VCU's men's basketball program? You have a pretty solid women's program at ODU, right? I don't know how it is down in The Beach, but in Sacred City women's programs are the shiat and everyone adores them.

I am looking forward to seeing how both team have progressed. Towson completely tore down the Combs era the same year you started up. Very similar young teams. It'll be interesting to see if gaining confidence through an easy schedule benefits over getting thrown to the WOLVES of a CAA schedule.

Andy, if the SWAC is any sort of barometer, a large crowd guarantees success on the gridiron through the regular season and into the playoffs. ODU has handled their D-IIA schedule pretty well, so there is a pretty good chance they will be seeded this year in the playoffs. The only question is #1 or #2 (Liberty will receive the other seed of course, based solely on the fact that they have several individuals in the running for some individual awards).

What a moronic question on a thread where comparisons of basketball programs have never been made by any ODU fan. Most ODU fans would like to see VCU get football, as the tailating and rivalry would be lots of fun, as it is in basketball.
