Some of the old guard was back then only the rotting carcass of a football program.
UNI is the only team that will be any good this year. Another conference title in the future.

They should be favored and they'll be loaded going in but they'll do as well as Rennie does; if he finds a deep ball they could go a long way.

Rennie's throwing ability is what separates UNI from good to great. If Rennie can just become a serviceable passer this year, and make the defenses at least respect that aspect of the game, UNI could be scary good. If not, we will again simply have a really good RB behind center and UNI will lose 3-5 games again.

Needs to develop a short passing game, but now that his arm has been exposed everybody is going to try to make him throw deep. If you can run against a stacked box you'll do fine.

Doesn't mean they are necessarily the best conference. Are you saying if oregon won the NC last year the pac-10 was the best conference?

that's how it works around here. App won = SoCon getting best conference love, CAA got the love for their multiple teams winning, EWU = No Big Fluffy talk. When Liberty beats Montana, Big South will be the bid dog.

The Patriot League is better than the OVC. All you have to do is look at the two conferences playoff performances during the last 10 years . The PL has done much better against really good competition. Their draw is usually playing the CAA champ on the road. I will give credit to Jax State though, they've been very good. Still, the PL has had Lehigh, Colgate, Holy Cross and Lafayette step up recently.

Lehigh, Colgate, Holy Cross and Lafayette are better year in and year out than Jax State, SEMO, EIU, Murray State, EKU etc. If Lehigh truly has its act together the whole league will benefit imo. The Hawks seem to get solid respect within the FCS community. .

I'd go out on a limb and say the PL is comparable to the MVFC right now. The bottom of the PL is much worse but the top 3-4 teams are pretty comparable. The CAA, SoCon and perhaps the Big Sky are at a different level.

Fair conclusion for last season, with the caveat that the MVC as a conference won't be that weak again for several more years. :thumb:

The Sky was better than the SoCon last year. :coffee:
They certainly had the best team, in terms of depth it's debatable imo.

I was basing my assessment on a 5-10 year period.

First, you stated "right now". Second, the BSC and CAA have had BOTH NC participants 3 years running. It's plainly obvious who the two best conferences are. Once App State's quality declined, the SoCon hasn't sniffed the NC game....nwo what was that about "depth"?

edited to correct SoCon (originally had CAA)... :ohno: :ohno:

Having teams play in the NC definitely helps a conference's case but like you said I'm all about looking at a conference's depth when determining which is a better conference.

The "right now" reference was in regards to the PL and MVFC comparison.

The SoCon is still elite imo. App State, Wofford and GSU are all top shelf. In fact, GSU might be the favorites heading into the season.

Yeah, I'd probably agree that the Big Sky was better than the SoCon this past season.

This is easy...

#1 Delusional Expectations Conference (DEC)

#2 CAA

#3 SoCon

#4 BSC

I'm not arguing SoCon isn't top 3. But the comment above implied it was questionable the BSC was on the same level...3 NC appearances in 3 years clearly makes that an assinine point.

Superhornet, you are a moron of epic levels. I'll leave your comments at that

As for the MVFC, it was beyond bad last season. Most years a 7-4 record gets you a fourth place finish. Fact is NDSU was an average,at bet, team last season and got some very favorable playoff draws.

Yeah, you're right. There's no way we would've scored another TD on the first play of the 2nd OT.

We would've scored on the second play. :thumb: We would've stopped you, like we did on your last drive before we tied it up. Couldn't even get a yard! And it's not like you could've passed on us...

Don't care if App State would've beat you in OT or not, it just would've made for a more entertaining game than it already was. There's a big difference between could've and probably though. :twocents:
