The committee decided during Friday’s regularly scheduled meeting that more information-gathering and analysis is needed at this point in the study. There is no deadline in place for a recommendation to be made.
“While May was the stated goal for when we wanted to provide a recommendation to Chancellor Peacock, we will not sacrifice making the most informed recommendation possible to meet an artificial deadline,” committee co-chairperson G.A. Sywassink said.
The committee has identified two issues that require further study. First, any potential major tuition increases at Appalachian must be accurately accounted for in financial models, as athletics pays tuition bills for 400-plus ASU student-athletes. Secondly, many NCAA Division I conferences and institutions are in the process of evaluating potential changes in membership and/or football-subdivision affiliation and Appalachian must continue to monitor and analyze these evaluations in order to determine its own place in the changing Division I landscape.
It appears that, as of now, we're all dressed up with no where to go. I think it's clear the administration wants to move up, but has it's eyes set on a particular situation that is yet to become an opportunity.

NO DOUBT ABOUT IT! WE'RE GONNA SHOUT IT! NOTHING'S HOTTER THAN A-S-U!
It's a good call - moving up for the sake of moving up doesn't make any sense IMO. If we can continue playing at a high level, have the ducks in a row for a move up and make that known hopefully the right suitor will come along.
They just sent out a press release today because May 20th was their self imposed deadline to recommend a decision to Peacock. They decided to extend that deadline indefinitely. People that haven't been following the process (like whoever the twitter accounts are) overreacted to the press release.

Agree. While I enjoy our place in FCS, I'm also realistic that the move to FBS is more than likely to happen. I'd prefer it to happen with a respectable conference (re: anyone but Sunbelt) or as part of a "super FCS" conference with multiple top progrmans migrating at once. And, quite honestly, I'd prefer it to happen after a successor for Coach Moore is at the helm and with proven continued success. But hey, wtf, do I know....

Don't think an FCS super conference can happen becasue you need an invite from an extisting conference to move up. Sunbelt is your most likely destination though they say they don't want FCS schools. But App St outdraws that conference so y'all would be a good add for them. If teams move around theres the longshot of CUSA but I don't see how they would ever want a FCS moveup and they like bigger markets. Never know though crazier things have happened. Too bad y'all aren't in the WAC footprint. They really need FCS move ups bad.

But. TCU is as close to most of the Big East as they were teams in the Mountain West and is in the same time zone or only one removed, while all other MWC teams were 1-2 times zones away.
Now, if San Diego State had joined the Big East, you would have had a case.
Yeah, I don't think TCU in the Big East is that radical apart from the name.
I actually went to TCU my freshman year of college... and we were in Conference USA at the time. We got flown all over the place for swim meets... places like Cincinnati and Louisville... teams that were in Conference USA at the time and are now in the Big East. It wasn't that long ago that TCU was in the same conference as a lot of Big East schools.
