Well...that's not the reason you should be fully on board. It is absolutely ridiculous that the Federal government is funding Planned Parenthood.

Can't really argue with this. If the gubment is gonna fund PP, they might as well fund the Boy and Girl Scouts, Big Brothers and Sisters, Boys & Girl Clubs, St. Jude's, etc, etc, etc...

You've reminded me that I need to look some stuff up about "subsidies" to companies like that. I suspect that most if not all of what people refer to when they talk about "subsidies" to the oil companies, for instance, consists of "tax breaks."

You are nto giving someone who is paying billions of dollars in taxes anything by giving them a "tax break." You are simply taking less from them. It's like if a schoolyard bully goes over to a smaller kid every school day and says, "give me a dollar or I'll beat you up" so the small kid gives him a dollar. Then one day the big kid says, if you smile at me before I take your money you only have to give me 50 cents. So the kid starts smiling at him.

The bully didn't "give" that small kid 50 cents per day because he's no longer taking a dollar per day from from him and instead is taking 50 cents. He's just taking less of his money.

For example, while the Deepwater Horizon oil rig was registered in the Marshall Islands, since registering off-shore lowered the U.S. tax liability, the U.S. government was giving the rig's owner, British Petroleum (BP), a major tax break when BP leased the rig: 70% of the rent was written off in the form of a tax break used only by the oil industry, for a tax deduction of more than $225,000 per day from the day the lease began."

So, as I suspected, it looks like it's the same old nonsense of saying that government allowing people to keep their own money instead of having their blood sucked is "giving" them something. It's not.

If an industry pays less than the standard tax rate they are being subsidized. If they externalize the environmental, infrastructure, health, and military related costs of their product, they are being subsidized. Sorry for your confusion.

PP has done more to reduce abortions than the fucking catholic church.

If altar boys could get pregnant, the catholic church would consider abortion a holy sacrament.
