Obama has never been a great friend of Israel -- that much is clear. He tried to "triangulate" somewhat yesterday, criticizing Palestinian efforts to go after Israel in the U.N. and cautioning that any Palestinian state should not be militaristic. But he wasn't very hard on Syria or Iran, given all the mischief they've caused -- not to mention repression of their own people.

Lincoln did not read off the napkin. He wrote the speech notes himself on the napkin and then made a few revisions.

When he delivered the address he did not refer to his notes.

I seriously doubt it is known one way or the other if he read from any notes while giving his speech.

That's not the point... the point is that it doesn't matter at all. Lincoln was a boring speaker. His delivery, or whether or not he used notes, isn't what's important about the Gettysburg Address. It's the content of his words.

the gettysburg address sucks because it was a LIE. The 'late united states' were never in any jeopardy of ceasing to exist. Its borders were to be redrawn that is all. If you knew anything you would know that the President of the Confederate States served ONE SIX YEAR TERM. A Presidential Election was scheduled for 1868 as President Davis was the President of the Provisional Government and then was Inaugurated again when the Government became PERMANENT. That's why on the Great Seal of the Confederate States of America, pictured below, it says 22 February 1862. He also enjoyed the LINE ITEM VETO. WE HAD TERM LIMITS IN THE HOUSE AND SENATE AS WELL.
