Zack Nash, Sacramento State, DE, Sr., 6-3, 265 - Nash was a high school linebacker, so that may allow him to view the game a little differently than other defensive ends. He is fast off the snap of the ball. He set the Hornets' single-season record with 13 sacks last season, including five in a win over Idaho State. He had 37 tackles, including 16.5 for loss. He has earned All-Big Sky honors in each of his first three seasons, including a first-team honor as a junior.

Don't you worry. The Golden Arm Committee is filing a formal appeal and will announce their approval of the NDSU conglomerate's suggestion for the entire NDSU D-line on the list by week's end.

Special NDSU mention in the article though:
Ben Boothby, Northern Iowa, NT, Sr., 6-0, 280 - Boothby must have been one tough fullback as a redshirt freshman in 2008. He's blossomed on the defensive side of the ball now that he is chasing quarterbacks instead of blocking for them. He had 16 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks last season, with 56 tackles overall. He set a Northern Iowa record for sacks in a game with four against North Dakota State in the 2010 opener. Perhaps not quite 6 feet tall, Boothby uses his low center of gravity to gain leverage on blockers. He often faces a double-team, which free ups a UNI linebacker.

Not to be too homerish but I think Colter Boyer should be mentioned. He's one of the most athletic DE's in FCS

Looks like the two best DL in the FCS are in the SoCon.

hmm. How is it Montana hasn't had ONE player in all the TSN rankings, but something tells me they will be at least a top 10 team this year?

Boothby was the best player on the field during UNI's annual loss to SIU. Dude is a load.

Here is the sleeper alert for the 2011 season on the d line - Ken Boatright 6-3, 245, DE. Very fast, very good at getting off blocks, made three hits when I was watching that had heads turning all over the field. Transferred up from an NAIA school to play with his brother, and moved onto the 1st string ahead of Kyle Russo, and FBS transfer from North Texas State who was an all-MVC newcomer with six sacks in '09.
You matter. Unless you multiply yourself by c squared. Then you energy.

Yeah, that's it. We shall see.

So, you worried about losing to a "perhaps not a top 10 team" when you play in Missoula later this year.

Yeah, didn't think so.

One has to be a top 10 team before you worry about your team's chances of winning on their field?...

Nice try bud. Montana finished last year around 20th in the nation with 18 turnovers in their four losses, while implementing a completely new offense with players not designed for the system.

If we can't manage top 10 with a year under our belt, I will agree, but I think we will be better than most expect. Not national championship worthy...yet, but enough to make many worry.

The only reason montana finished around 20 in the polls is the name Montana. They were not a top 20, actually 25, team last season

We all know the preseason prognostications are worthless so its moot anyway. i was just suggesting that we will have to see how things play out. Montana very well could be a top 10 team but even if they end up being marginal in the beginning of the season i'd still be worried going into missoula. my comment certainly wasn't meant as a knock.

UNI actually won the MVFC outright before the final week of the regular season and was very much so a top 15 team. The team thattook the field against WIU was a shell of the rest of the season. The playoff loss, as inexcusable as I find it, is something not all that uncommon come playoff football. Atleast UNIcould get to 7 D1 wins

Hey jackass, where would have you ranked UNI last year? Conference champ. 7 DI wins, and a playoff berth.

Not sure why UNI was brought up anyway in a discussion about Montana. You have some sort of obsession or what?

Settle down there internet tough guy...The discussion was NOT about Montana...it was about 'top 10 1-AA D-Linemen'. You UNI fans wanted to belittle the Griz...Obsessed much?...so, just pointing out that UNI had 5 losses including a home loss to Lehigh  So kindly blow it out your big, fat, pimply a-hole jackass.

Montana was absolutely being discussed in the thread. It was YOU who, unsolicited, brought up UNI for no reason, other than that you were stung by clenz's opinion that Montana should not have been a top 25 team.

Nobody was doing any belittling. You were just butthurt by someone else's valid opinion.

And how in the name of Christ can you openly mock UNI for having 5 losses, including a playoff loss, when Montana had a worse season without any playoffs?
