Gingrich officially enters 2012 race

Post by dbackjon »

It took awhile, but Newt Gingrich is officially a candidate for the presidency in 2012. The former House speaker made the announcement via Twitter and Facebook Wednesday.

"I'm Newt Gingrich, and I'm announcing my candidacy for president of the United States because I believe we can return America to hope and opportunity, to full employment and to real security," Gingrich said in a web video.

In the two minute video, Gingrich spoke to the camera on a simple gray background and talked about his time as House speaker and his vision for an America with less focus on Washington.

"There's a much better American future ahead with more jobs, more prosperity, a better health system, longer lives, greater independent living and a country that is decentralized under the 10th amendment, with power once again back with the American people and away from the Washington bureaucracy," he said.

In case some of you lefties are wondering the 10th Amendment says.....

"THE POWERS NOT DELEGATED TO THE UNITED STATES BY THE CONSTITUTION, NOR PROHIBITED BY IT TO THE STATES, ARE RESERVED TO THE STATES RESPECTIVELY, OR TO THE PEOPLE."

Does this make Newt the "State Powers Candidate" ??

Win the future? What are the criteria for winning?

What future? At what point is it the future?

That's a dumb campaign slogan.

How about no campaign slogan? If you absolutely positively have to have one, then make it simple, like "The Common Sense Candidate" or some sh!t like that.

Winning the future? Sounds like zero-outcome soccer to me.

"The Common Sense Candidate" may be the most over-used slogan in campaign politics... although "for our future" and "a politician for us" are close...

no candidate has yet taken me up on using "but he's our asshole" although i've made more than a few candidates laugh themselves silly and admit that they'd wished they could get away with it.

It might be overused, but I'm just giving an example of a slogan that does not evoke unicorns and rainbows like most of the sh!t we have been subjected to over the last 15 years or so.

We'll never elect a guy with the name "Newt". He should come up with a new name if he wants to have a decent shot at this.

Yeah, and so many said we would never elect a guy with the first name like Barack and Hussein for a middle name either.
Just sayin'.

I dont think Gingrich will win it but he will destroy people in the debates. He's one of the few Obama does not want to see win the GOP nod. He would absolutely throttle Obama in a 1-on-1 debate
