2009 Furman Schedule

Post by dbackjon »

Sept. 5 Presbyterian
12 @ UTC
19 @ Delaware
26 @ Western Carolina
Oct. 3 Elon
10 Open
17 Samford
24 @ The Citadel
31 App. State
Nov. 7 @ Auburn
14 @ Georgia Southern
21 Wofford

Great schedule - OOC against Presby, Delaware and Auburn

Pencil the Paladins for the playoffs

Should be at least 6-1 by the ASU game, then the three conference games that will determine FU's fate.

It is a nice schedule. Those last four weeks, though..phew. Vermin could conceivably lose all of 'em. :D

I'm gonna guess they go 5-6. Losses to Samford, ASU, Auburn, GSU, Wofford and either Elon, Delaware or Citadel.

that is a BRUTAL schedule. No Iona's on there. Hence, no playoffs for furrywoman.

It could be a long year. I think any SoCon game this year is possibly a loss except UTC. But we beat Samford (by a very little ) at their place last year so I will stick with us getting them at home. It is going to be interesting. Started strong last year and ended with a thud. Started weak in 07 and ended great. Lamb has to put it together this year. 5-6 will not be good for coaching longevity.

He goes 5-6, he is gone. That is the word on the street (from reliable sources). I hate to see the guy get shit-canned, but he has sort of dug his own grave. All I can hope for is that he pulls a Moore, and turns it all around just when it looks like he's gone. That would be sweet, but I'm not holding my breath.

Schedule looks good, but very tough. Halloween will be interesting.

Of course, if Garcia transfers to FU, that may change a few of my outlooks.

I'm very skeptical about Chizik as a head coach. IMO the Furples have a goldern opportunity to take down an SEC team and start a complete conflagration at Auburn. Believe it or not GSU's schedule is probably tougher than this with an ACC team and App, Wofford, Elon, Samford, and South Dakota State on the road. Could be the third year in a row GSU and Furman sits at home the weekend after Thanksgiving.

Does Nooga have any talent on their squad coming back? Just wondering because if the new coach can utilize athletes on D they may be in more ballgames than they were last year.
