Wow, even for being so long ago that its no longer relevant, its still impressive. You know how impressive last years win at Kansas was then too!

Back in those days NDSU has Lamar Gordon at tailback and we were still firmly in D2 dominating the division and the NCC. That was before the Big 3 Dakota schools: NDSU, SDSU and USD were established as the "BIG 3" but it also pre=dates UND quitting competition and moving out west someplace.

The NDSU BISON Football titles from the 80s have stood the test of time. They are part of the legend, the storied history recorded and kept in the vaults deep under the stands of the prestigious and Fabulous Fargo Dome. They are the stuff that legend is made. They are part of the BISON LORE!

All I care about is Beating BIG 10 and BIG 12 teams in their HOUSES and that by being 4-3 vs FBS in last 5 years shows that we could EASILY compete in the FBS.

Throw NDSU into the MAC or WAC and we are 5-5,. 6-4. easily.

The Missouri Valley Conference has been a welcome challenge from the old NCC days. Im sure SDSU fans would agree. With the Big Dakota schools the best in the NCC moved into the MVFC. Its a good conference. Our record isnt a sign of any weakness, its a sign of strength. All of the programs are good. After a huge parity battle in 2010 NDSU emerged as the most highly regarded MVFC team in the nation. Thats saying something, wouldn't you agree?

It is saying something, but not as much as it would be under the old system of course. Certainly it didn't help that the MVC had it's weakest season anybody can remember, and it's representatives entered the fray sporting 7-4 records, which appeared about right after Lehigh upset UNI and little Robert Morris went toe-to-toe with NDSU for 3 and a half quarters..... Bison did a good job of rolling with a perfect storm that broke their way, easy first round then an upset of MSU and just a half step slow at EWU........man it was so close.....it was there for the taking...... get used to that feeling if you're going to be in the playoffs; you wouldn't know yet, but you never know, if you know what I mean. No?

The EWU game was there for the taking and bill fette took it!


It was the worst season for the MVFC, at least for SIU, in a long time. Otherwise it looked pretty normal from my perspective. The conference should be proud and honoring NDSU for carrying the water. UNI certainly had nothing going for it and did not represent well.



Last season saw NDSU break into the win column in the Big 12.

All eyes will be on Manhattan when the BISON roll into town.

It also saw playoff ball resume in Fargo. Fans watched as the MVFC undertook a changing of the guard. The BISON unveiled a dominating defense that will be around for several years. It became clear the 4th Dynasty of BISON Football was underway. The path is clear for the Herd. This season will see some separation between NDSU and the conference pack teams.

I believe the Blue Hens are in the book of BISON LORE and sporting a winning record to boot! Thats something to be proud of.
