Would you rather Friday
Would you rather Friday
Would you rather have a blowout or a close win?
Re: Would you rather Friday
Depends on the sport, importance of the game (i.e. playoffs versus mid-season), the opponent, etc.

Generally speaking, close wins are funner.

Re: Would you rather Friday
For my team, I always prefer blowouts.
Appalachian State Mountaineers:
National Champions: 2005, 2006, and 2007
Southern Conference Champions: 1986, 1987, 1991, 1995, 1999, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2012
NO DOUBT ABOUT IT! WE'RE GONNA SHOUT IT! NOTHING'S HOTTER THAN A-S-U!

89: Wrong forum for that sentiment.
I find I gotta agree with TJ if my team's involved. If it's two teams I have no affiliation with, screw the blowout (unless someone like the Yankees are on the wrong end, of course). I'm not a fan of running up the score unless the opponent is Tokay High, UCFE, the SF 49ers, or the SF Giants. Running up the score usually comes back to bite you in the rear sooner or later. But there are certain mismatches where it's probably going to happen no matter what (i.e. you scheduled a D-III or the opposing QB goes down and the backup was so lazy he didn't even bother to look at the game plan like Billy Joe Hobert). Recognizing that there's a fundamental difference between a set-up blowout and an intentional one, in general, you take the W however you get it, like TJ said. This guy has more upstairs than most of us here.

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

Closer games are much more exciting to watch, Weber's last year 4 overtime game vs UNC was a lot of fun, both teams played like complete crap, but the game came down to the wire.
Blowouts are satisfying, you leave the Stadium happy, but blowouts usually tend to get boring come late 3rd Qrt into the 4th when your team stops trying to score and just runs the clock

Re: Would you rather Friday
I felt happier at the end of the SDSU playoff win than I did the SFA playoff win. Also enjoyed the App game more than the SFA game.
So I say close games are more fun.

Re: Would you rather Friday
Close in general - but there are times when a blowout is just so viscerally satisfying.
for example - at this point, I'd just as soon watch the Twins rip off a three game LDS sweep of the yankees 10-0 each night... it would be cathartic to just let it all out in one major ass kicking.
i actually feel that way about NDSU/UNI... I would love to see the Bison just dismember them 42-0 or something

Feel the same way about the Scats...tight games are fun win or lose, but it never gets old watching those pricks walk out of Wa-Griz with their heads down after a smack-down.TwinTownBisonFan wrote:Close in general - but there are times when a blowout is just so viscerally satisfying.

Good point. Hard fought, close games are great to watch, especially if your team comes out on top (see 2010 EWUTwinTownBisonFan wrote:Close in general - but there are times when a blowout is just so viscerally satisfying.
