Brandon Davis to Chuck South??

Post by CSUBUCDAD »

South Carolina fans seem to think this kid is transferring to Chuck South for his last year of football eligibility. Mostly a special teams guy with the gamecocks, this kid is a real hitter and speed guy and if it comes about he will be a prime competitor for a starting corner job. Talked to Coach Mills today and he can't really say anything at this point so that tells me the contact has been made and talks are in progress. Makes sense because Brandon's brother is the Marketing director for CSU athletics and Brandon is pursuing a masters in Religion which is after all what CSU is all about anyway.

I thought FBS players needed two years of eligibility to transfer to FCS schools...

Is this rule gone, or something?

Nope. FBS to FBS yes, FBS to FCS no.

I'm positive there was a rule before about FBS to FCS. They called it the Josh Swogger rule, since they put it in after the 2006 season when Swogger transfered for his senior season at Montana.

Not saying this kid isn't going to transfer, but they had to have done away with that rule if that's the case.

And the FBS-FBS rule isn't that they aren't allowed to transfer in their senior year. The rule says they lose one year and have to sit out one year after transfering, so transfering before your senior year would be pointless. That's also a big reason why Tate Forcier didn't come to Montana, since he still had his redshirt, he could use his redshirt for the year he was forced to sit out at Miami, and will still have his 2 years after that.
