So, he's like a less-talented version of Mariani? :kisswink:

He's a more talented version of Mariani. 8-)

I'm sure he'll use that as consolation when he ends up mowing Mariani's lawn. :coffee:

6'5, 205lbs, 75 rec - 1,214 yds - 15 TDs - 16ypc, All-American and Playoffs MVP... as a sophomore. He's got 4.5 speed too. Something tells me he'll make it in the NFL. :coffee:

STARS:

-QB: Brad Sorensen: The best QB we have ever had at the FCS level and it shows. Last season Brad threw for over 3163 yards completing 261/390 passes for 21 touchdowns and only 6 interceptions in what was SUU's first ever winning season in the FCS. Also rushed for 64 yards on 11 carries and 2 touchdowns He did lose a few weapons in the WR core but we have a very talented group still there with many looking to fill the void. Still a Junior I cant wait to see how much more he improves and could very well be a contender for the top QB in the Big Sky in 2012.

-LB: Blake Fenn: Our defensive leader in 2010 Fenn looks to repeat much of the same in 2011. He led the team with 61 solo tackles, 3 assisted giving him a total of 97, had two fumble recoveries and had a 73 yard interception return for a touchdown against UC-Davis.

SLEEPERS:

-WR: Jared Ursua: The only Senior WR we have on our team this year and also appears (according to the spring game) will become Sorensens favorite target during the 2011 season. Last season he had only 116 yards receiving with 2 touchdowns but with the departure of Tyson Poots and Sitake we will look to him to get the job done in what will be a young WR core.

-RB: Austin Minifee: Productive in both the passing and rushing game Minifee is poised for a breakout season. Last year he ran for over 764 yards on 111 carries (5.7 average) with 5 touchdowns, not bad for a spread offense. On the receiving end he had 257 yards receiving primarily off of swing out and hitch routes out of the backfield. Look to see more from him in 2011 in terms of running and in the passing game.

I think Sorensen might have been the best QB I saw EWU play against this year. Granted, we've not been great against the pass, but that dude absolutely tore us apart. Scary passing attack SUU had this season.

I'd say it's a tossup between McGhee and Sorensen, but of the two Sorensen has the best pro potential. I really think Sorensen will be playing on Sundays. Both should be contending for the Payton this year and next.

For a couple impact players/sleepers on D for EWU:

DT Renard Williams, LB Zach Johnson, and SS Matt Johnson are givens.

Watch out for DT Andru Pulu (UW transfer) ... almost the same size as Renard, and great at stuffing the run. Both of them clogging the middle is going to make it real tough on those that try to run on us.

DE Jerry Ceja. He started to shine last year, and has looked great so far in the spring. With Renard and Andru in the middle taking on double teams, it's going to make it easier for guys like Ceja to get sacks.

LB John Goldwire. I'd be surprised if he didn't win the starting job or see a significant amount of playing time this year. Redshirted last year... he's gonna be a beast by the time he's a senior.
