Lehigh lost a tough one at #8 Army, 12-9. Match was tied at 7-7 with about a minute to go in the 3rd quarter when Army exploded for 3 goals in 20 seconds. Lehigh closed to 11-9 with 3 minutes to go and pulled goalie. Open netter made the final score.

UD & Penn Sate both jump out to 2-0 CAA starts - who would've thunk it. UD gets two home one-goal wins - will have to play even better this Saturday at Drexel to go 3-0.

uh, I did - always said it was too early to bail on the Hens because of troubles in late February...

Gannonfan wrote:We'll see - still almost 4 weeks until the CAA season starts in earnest. Granted, the Hens have looked lackluster so far, but at least it's a 4-1 lackluster start. Still too early to bail on this team - basically preseason right now.

Man, can't tell there was lax played last weekend. Delaware had a 9-7 win over Drexel to go 3-0 in the CAA, still looking to host the CAA tourney as they already own a victory over 2nd place Hofstra.

Big game for StonyBrook tomorrow night up in Harford. This could be our toughest conference foe this season-the Hawks are strong.

Towson loses to UMass in OT. 6th one point loss this season 3rd in OT, I think. The year really, really REALLY sucks.

Eh, UD's been on a CAA or bust tour since the start of March - OOC isn't going to make or break this team now. Win the CAA's, and they're in the dance. Don't win it, and it's time to look forward to football (although shockingly UD baseball is in first in the CAA, so may have to start paying attention to them again).

Lehigh lost another tight one tonight, 12-11 to #12 Bucknell. Hawks can still make the PL Tournament with a win over arch-rival Lafayette or if Army and Colgate beat Navy and Lafayette. Hawks have not learned to win the close ones yet.

May be a naive question, but why don't they play Ohio State??

I'm not a Michigan lacrosse expert by any means, but I think it has to do with one being NCAA sanctioned (OSU) and one being an "association" team (Michigan).

From Wiki on the MCLA

The MCLA oversees game play and conducts national championships for over 200 teams in ten conferences throughout the United States and Canada. The MCLA provides a governing structure much like the NCAA, with eligibility rules, All-Americans and a national tournament to decide national champions in both Divisions I and II.
The MCLA exists to provide a quality college lacrosse experience where varsity NCAA lacrosse does not exist, including at an increasing number of National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) schools. Because the NAIA does not sponsor lacrosse currently, many NAIA schools are using the MCLA as a means of organizing their varsity lacrosse programs. On an individual scale, the MCLA provides rules and a structure that promotes "virtual varsity" lacrosse. While the MCLA provides a high level of athletic competition, it is one of the few governing bodies that does not have a national GPA requirement for its athletes. On a national scale, the MCLA provides the infrastructure to support a level playing field through eligibility rules and enforcement and the use of NCAA rules of play. The MCLA has grown from 70 teams to over 200 from 1997-2006.

I don't understand how the D1 and D2 system is set up for the MCLA as there are tiny NAIA schools in D1 and teams like Tennessee in D2.

FWIW the Montana Griz won the MCLA D2 title in 2007 in the city of Frisco, TX in Pizza Hut Park

StonyBrook rolled over Albany tonight 23-11. The Seawolves played the entire 4th quarter with their bench. I don't understand what has happened at Albany this year. They were an America East power for years, now they have yet to win a conference game.
