Re: Phillies Parade
Better news on Utley - they're saying no to the 60-day DL & a May return could be a possibility. Taking ground balls now - which he wasn't before, but still no running.

Three run rally in the bottom of the 9th.

I was thinking it would be yet another home loss to Houston. Brett Myers pitched his second straight solid game against us.93henfan wrote:Three run rally in the bottom of the 9th.

But Brandon Lyon looked like the '09 version of Brad Lidge out there!

It's not really indicative of anything - it's just one game out of 162. Still nice to have the win though.TwinTownBisonFan wrote:wow... i don't know if this win is more indicative of the phillies or the astros... or both

If it's indicative that the Phils can scratch out six hits and three runs in a pinch then I'm a happy guy.GannonFan wrote:It's not really indicative of anything - it's just one game out of 162. Re: Phillies Parade
earlier in the thread I commented that the phils offense is going to do stuff like this... they have the bats...93henfan wrote:If it's indicative that the Phils can scratch out six hits and three runs in a pinch then I'm a happy guy.GannonFan wrote:

It's indicative that Brandon Lyon sucks.93henfan wrote:If it's indicative that the Phils can scratch out six hits and three runs in a pinch then I'm a happy guy.GannonFan wrote: It's not really indicative of anything - it's just one game out of 162. Still nice to have the win though.
Though, if you've ever seen Brandon Lyon pitch before, you already knew that.

Another night. Another 11 strikeouts by Cliff Lee. Another Phils win. Ho hum.
Now we get down to the weak part of the rotation: Hamels, Oswalt, and Blanton.

Don't act like you played a real team today, you played the Lastros...beat a Major League team and then get back to us.93henfan wrote:Another night. Another 11 strikeouts by Cliff Lee. Another Phils win. Ho hum.

now you get the mutts... first the astros, then the mutts... feasting on the dregs (not a knock - you beat the teams on the schedule - but it's a nice way to start the season with some momentum)Ivytalk wrote:3-0 for the first time in 10 years!Cole is set to stuff the Mutts on Tuesday!

Re: Phillies Parade
Well, we only play the Red Sox in a 3 game series this year so there's going to be a lot of times this year that the Phils are going to be playing teams below their level.TwinTownBisonFan wrote:now you get the mutts... first the astros, then the mutts... feasting on the dregs (not a knock - you beat the teams on the schedule - but it's a nice way to start the season with some momentum)Ivytalk wrote:3-0 for the first time in 10 years!Cole is set to stuff the Mutts on Tuesday!

If we're waiting for the Phils to play "competitive" games - it's a short list of teams: Braves, Reds, Cardinals??, Giants, Rockies, Red Sox.

Back on the winning side, 10-7. Howard and Francisco continue to smoke the ball. Fat Bastardo gets the win in relief of Joe Blanton who couldn't hold a 7-0 lead.

Re: Phillies Parade
Not worrid about pitching at all, happy with how the offense looks so far. Everyone stays healty, get Utley back around June 1 & Lidge sometime after that - maybe.

Re: Phillies Parade
Yup, so far so good. Hamels and Blanton will be fine, I'm not worried about bad starts here or there. And the offense seems to have a little pep in it so far. Obviously Howard is in a zone right now so that helps, but he's also getting plenty of help up and down the lineup. Phils bullpen is always underrated, IMO - Madson and Contreras are very capable, especially when Madson stays in his setup role. So far so good.

Only takes the hitters once through the lineup to figure out that straight-as-string 85-mph heater.93henfan wrote:Blanton looked great.
