Big Sky to Consider SD School of Mines?

Post by JBB »

I dont know if this 2012 game means anything but it does involve one of the BSC powerhouse programs, the heavily courted University of North Dakota. Reading between the lines there is a message: UND has put the South Dakota School of Mines on their 2012 schedule! This is an NAIA program transitioning to D2! That says something.

UND is a program that prides itself on playing anybody anytime (Sioux Falls University for example) and no further proof is needed. This dramatic development says something. The BSC is rushing a new member worthy of the competition and they are offering up UND as the dog:

Its been suggested the MVFC might be interested but SD School of MInes doesnt fit the geographical footprint of 1,000 miles or more for loop teams. There is support for the School of Mines in the BSC and the scheduling seems to be reinforcing the rumor touted elsewhere. As of this time the SD School of Mines has not been in contact with any MVFC members about scheduling.

This could be a good game. UND is sporting a grudge against all NAIA teams and has more experience with them than any other school in Division 1 football. They know what they are doing. On the other hand The SD School of Mines is going to be playing for the pride of NAIA transitiong teams across the country. Should be another great "Dead in the Shed" contest.

Meanwhile the Big 3 Dakota Schools: NDSU, SDSU and USD will be slugging it out in Division 1.
Dear Lord, We come before you and humbly ask you to grant our prayer for a veil of protection to be placed over Donald Trump. May your will be done. In Jesus name we pray. Amen

Another JBB drum up

No mentions of the following:
Big Sky
MVFC
FCS
1-AA
Moving to the FCS
FBS

There is 2 mentions of the phrase North Dakota:
The Hardrockers already have two NCAA contests set in football for 2012, with an away game at the University of North Dakota and a home date with Colorado School of Mines.

“You would have to have a minimum of six schools to look at a new conference, and that number may jump to eight or 10,” he said. “There are not many schools in our area in North Dakota, Minnesota, Nebraska, Iowa. So to be able to do that you would have to take members from the RMAC or Northern Sun. That is not easy to pull off, but it is not out of the realm of possibility.”

If you honestly think the Big Sky of MVFC is interested in the SD School of Mines I will PM you my address and write you a check for the costs of driving to Cedar Falls just to punch you in the fucking face you fucking retard

"Clenzie the Columnist" is misguided. This is just more humiliation heaped upon the Big Sky Conference by UND.

They cant afford a decent home game. Heck, they might not even be in the NCAA in a month or two. The problems are just a little too big and its a little too late for them to do the right thing now.

You do realize that last season the MVFC had a team that played 2 NON DIVISION ONE OOC GAMES...not even both of them were D2...one was freaking NAIA

If the fact Indiana State is the worst D1 program in the nation and has one something like 5 D1 games the last 8 years, and lost something like 50 in a row, isn't humiliation for the MVFC then UND schedule the SD School of Mines is nothing more than smart schedule to get another home game.

Only if you drive, and don't rent a hotel. NDSU is a one day drive, Missoula is not.

Sounds good. I will drive there on your dime, then we can discuss Grizo and his HOF status revocation.

UND plays at least two NAIA teams next season and has played more NAIA teams, all sports than any two teams in Division 1 combined, over the past 3 years. They have lost to NAIA teams in both big sports, Football and Basketball, but what the hey, they are at least in the geographical footprint.

Great add for the BSC.

UNI is at least in the realistic footprint. Budget problems too. But the MVFC didnt go begging for UNI like the Big Sky begged for the embarassemt that is UND. UNI may have evolved into a slight embarassment. UND came fully equipped and in the footprint too!

I think UND has a D3 and 2 transitioning NAIA teams on the football schedule this year including the big game against University of Sioux Falls for the "Dead in the Shed" Bowl. 0-1 in favor of the NAIA South Dakota School.

I picked this little tidbit up over at BV. It certainly contrasts the serious nature of football between the Big Sky and MVFC. In fact it suggest that school of Mines would be a natural invite for the BSC:
Here is how the Big Sky's non-conference football scheduling breaks down....According to some Sioux fans this is the premier FCS conference....

FBS 11 games- That is respectable, lots of games vs the Pac 12.

FCS 9 games- All vs the Great West conference, yes the Big Sky won't play another FCS conference besides the Great West until the playoffs. All but one game is vs a team that will be in the Big Sky next year.

Non-DI 7 games- One game vs a DIII, one vs a NAIA team and several vs schools transitioning into DII from the NAIA.

Lets contrast that with the MVFC

FBS 10 games- Multiple game vs the Big 12, Big 10 and SEC.

FCS 17 games- Games vs the GWFC, Southland, OVC, Patriot, NEC and Pioneer. Only one game vs a team that is joining the MVFC next year.

Non DI- ZERO and no UND fans zero is not a name of a non-DI school so you don't have to worry about Faison scheduling them.
http://www.bisonville.com/forum/showthr ... post487462
The thread title over there is "The Big Sky is a Joke". I had the good taste to simply suggest the School of Mines is a good get for the BSC.

Yup. I wonder how they reconcile the beating they took. I guess when all they have to hang their hat on is their scedule you gotta let em' live a little.

I am wondering how or why it matters that some teams from the GWFC that will be moving into the conference in the future were scheduled two or three yrs. ago matters though? They are still FCS teams.

Poor bastards.

Bill Fette must be stopped!

He gave you one last year.

I might be looking at this wrong. Weak OOC scheduling may be the way to go. It did cost the Grizz a playoff spot last year but they werent that good. EWU had a D2 though and Montana must have had one as well.
