the shit they got away with in the big east doesn't fly in the rest of the country... they knew that going in (in fact i said that either earlier in this thread or in another)

But that doesn't mean teams don't try to exploit it

I'd hate to be one of those Jackasses that picked Pitt to win it all.

I picked Pitt to the Final 4, but I wasn't too confident about it because I knew they were the weakest 1 seed. I had Butler going down to ODU in the first round.griz37 wrote:I'd hate to be one of those Jackasses that picked Pitt to win it all.

I think it's hilarious that the Big lEast is epic failing though.

I have Florida coming out of that region. I didn't have Pitt losing so soon, however.TwinTownBisonFan wrote:knew pitt wouldn't make it to monday... got the 8/9 game wrong - but i knew pitt wouldn't survive...

Re: 2011 March Madness Thread
I certainly hope this year's performance by the Big East convinces the committee to never allow 11 teams from the same conference ever again. 11 teams in the tournament and only 2 (or 3 if Notre Dame can stage a miraculous comeback) will make it to the second weekend? What a joke.

And those two teams that made it beat fellow Big East teams. WAFJ.

meh - every one of those teams belonged.Shellin wrote:I certainly hope this year's performance by the Big East convinces the committee to never allow 11 teams from the same conference ever again. 11 teams in the tournament and only 2 (or 3 if Notre Dame can stage a miraculous comeback) will make it to the second weekend? the last team in from the big east was Marquette - and they made the sweet 16... in two cases BE teams eliminate another BE team (UConn over Cincy and Marquette over Syracuse)
the problem for the BE is that 1) their conference season and tournament is a grind unlike any other and 2) the officiating is very different between the BE and the NCAA - the hard, physical style of the conference doesn't fly in the tournament (just ask Pitt)

Villanova for one had no business being in the tourney.

Re: 2011 March Madness Thread
The Big East is still the best conference hands down. There's no doubt about it. Like TwinTown said, the last BE team in was Marquette and they are in the Sweet 16. Any of the top 11 teams in that conference could've made it this far. That is how deep that conference was this year.
