Too funny.

Hey, Q-boy, your people have spoken and Clinton and Obama say you must step down. But, our oil friends don't need to step down...we just want them to be nicer oppressors.

The more things CHANGE...

"The streets remained littered with rubble and tanks held positions at intersections and outside the main hospital. Traffic was light and most shops remained shuttered although the government announced that the stock market had reopened.

These steps followed the military’s retaking of Pearl Square in central Manama, the capital, on Wednesday and the arrival on Monday of 2,000 troops from Saudi Arabia and other neighboring allies. Popular protests here modeled on the hopeful events in Egypt took on the darkness of those in Libya on Wednesday as hundreds of Bahraini troops, backed by helicopters and tanks, cleared Pearl Square of demonstrators. Three protesters and two security officers were killed.

Security forces roared through downtown Manama, wresting it from the protesters who had in recent days taken charge of neighborhoods and nearby villages. As skirmishes continued into the evening, a curfew was announced for the center of the city.

“They broke everything, they shot at kids, there was no humanity, no respect,” said Hassan Ali Ibrahim, 35...

The crackdown placed the United States in an awkward bind. The United States, which bases its Fifth Fleet here, has struggled to balance its strategic interest in placating Bahrain and its ally, Saudi Arabia, its fears that Iran is exploiting the anger of Bahrain’s majority Shiite protesters, and American democratic principles. American officials have held off backing the protesters while urging Bahrain’s leaders to exercise restraint. That advice was ignored."

Navi Pillay, the UN rights chief, said in a statement she was "deeply alarmed by the escalation of violence by security forces in Bahrain, in particular the reported takeover of hospitals and medical centres" in the country, which she called a "shocking and a blatant violation of international law."

Reagan is dead. You must have missed that technical fact check while cheering for more Japanese deaths. I am quite sure he is not making statements about Libya and Bahrain...and certainly doesn't have the power to do anything about the situations.

If he does, then you and your kind are in a heap of trouble.

Even as an original Obama supporter, I have to agree, he's not shown his best these past few weeks. The fact that we're still dithering that we might set up a no fly zone over Libya, and not a second before the rebels are routed, isn't good leadership. The international front has not been a good area for him so far, and that was supposed to be one of his stronger suits (i.e. get the world to like us again). The whole Iraq and Afghanistan things are also geting confusing - exactly what are we doing in either of those places right now? We have hundreds of thousands of troops deployed and there's very little updates any more regarding how we're doing and what the objective is.

But, but, but - he gave a speech at the Brandenburg Gate! He won the Nobel Peace Prize! We're getting out of Iraq and fighting the right war in Afghanistan! Which will all be over in 2014!

Ya' got me wrong, Chizz...I don't want to invade every country on a whim. Never have. Try to keep up. :kisswink:

And, of course it isn't CHANGE...that's the funny part. Everyone is focussed on the Iraq war as an example of Bush's policy...but that was an exception where he used force. The rest of the time, the oppressive oil partners were our friends. Obama was supposed to change things.

Well, we're still in bed with the oil folks...and Obama who just said Q-boy should step down because...oh, I don't know, he is oppressing and killing his people, doesn't keep up the same rhetoric when it comes down to Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and the rest of his oil friends when they do the same.

8 years of hearing about Bush being in bed with the oil hounds...and yet Obama gets a pass. Many years of the press going after Bush with nightly body counts and now...silence about Affy and Iraq.

Yes, Bush went into Iraq, blessed by the Dems who had access to the same information and blessed by several of the world's other countries. But Obama is still there in both countries...and with far more troops in Affy than Bush had. After all, Affy is the war Obama said was the right one. 8-)

And why don't you tell us how Afghanistan is the right war?

And please explain why it is OK with you that Obama publicly expresses that he wants Qadaffi gone (its the people's will) while ignoring the people of Bahrain? :dunce:

I hope the Obama's apologists don't try to spin Obama's feckless indecision as non-interventionist policy. The truth is that Obama hasn't a damn clue what to do. It isn't even certain that he really cares.

We could use Biden armed with some rubber bands and paperclips, should be enough. Now the question is, can either of them point to Libya or Bahrain on a map to direct the attack?

He needs to do only one thing. He needs to develop a policy and explain that policy. Whether that policy is bomb the shit out of Libya or non-intervention doesn't matter much at this point. Obama simply needs to explain what he is or isn't going to do and give the reasons for it.
