CAA Staying Together

Post by Col Hogan »

That's right...even when it grows the 14 teams...

CAA ADs are meeting right now, and apprently have decided to keep the conference together even as it grows to 14 football teams in 2012...

No more details right now...I'll post them as I get them...

Why not? Eventually it'll be a 30-team conference and it'll be the CAA playoffs.

LMAO! It took WR 2 minutes to post and there were two CAA slams in before he hit submit.

Who gives a sh!t how many bids the CAA gets. It's up to the other conferences to have more good teams so that the committee has other choices. The Valley and the SoCon need to get back to being 3 bid leagues.

It will probably be difficult for MAQA yahoos to overcome the Qult programming but they should give being rational & reasonable a try.

14 teams. 2 decent teams in each half. You only have to play one of them...six gimmies. then 2 gimmies from the other half and you'll see CAA with 7 bids. Mark my words....and the 6th and 7th teams will continue to perform like Maine did this year.

But when you can play a bunch of pastsys and get 8,9,10,11 wins, all being div 1 so they count towards playoffs, it will kill the rest of the teams that play a harder schedule and only get that 8 or 9 win season.

Wait, what am I saying. The CAA is the hardest and bestest league out there. We should all wish our team was in such a dominant and prestigious league. I bow in the general direction of all CAA teams.

UNI make a point that I'd like to expound on...the CAA has ONE vote....ONE LOUSY VOTE...on the selection committee...

While I don't like the way the committee has set up the teams they select, and will agree whole-heartedly with some of our western brothers that the playoff games need to be better distributed geographically...it is up to each team and each conference to play a schedule and win to catch that committees attention to win the at-large bids...

If the CAA grows to 30 teams...but they play a crappy schedule...you aren't going to have many CAA teams in the playoffs...

Now, let the attacks begin...a little blood on the water...

Come on over Monty, didn't you hear, we are trying to get up to thirty! You don't want to miss out on one of the 8 auto bids do you?

So you will be playing, what, 50% of your league?

Time for the other conference AD's to grow some nads and put a minimum % of teams you play in your conference to get into the playoffs...

The CAA is turning into the ECAC - a scheduling alliance. Nothing more.

Of course, without Iona to kick around, life is tougher in the CAA.

Hey, I already bowed in your general direction, what more do you want from me? And, never ever ever would I wish the Griz be in the CAA.

It would make more sense to limit the number of teams from one conference in the playoffs. Make the number 5. That way, no matter how big the conference gets, only a maximum of 5 teams can make the playoffs.

I think that when the CAA reaches 30 teams, it should break away from the FCS and have its own 16 team CAA only playoff.

Good plan. See your 5, lower it to four. Five if they all play full-schollie teams ;)

When the CAA reaches 30 teams, it WILL be a CAA only playoff....they'll have filled their schedule with the in-conference creampuffs of the world.

There are no creampuffs in the CAA. The 16 teams the CAA absorbs to reach 30 will be nothing but the elite of FCS.

I find the whole thing amusing. I like the CAA, but I'm not a homer.

The CAA is the Walmart of FCS. If it gets any bigger there going to have to call it the CAAA

That is one area where it could be a problem. With the playoffs expanding and the Big South and NEC getting autos where and when do you split the CAA? Despite 14 teams you still have the same number of top teams in the north and south. Other conferences will have to speak up and pitch a fit for the committe to give an at-large to a Big Sky or Great West team over the CAA, when for the forseeable future, the CAA will be an overall stronger conference
