Crazy placement of the bye, right before a D-II.

But what's REALLY weird is going to HI and NOT having 12 games. The rule is that you're allowed an extra game if you go to HI.

I would have liked to keep South Alabama on October 1 and the bye on October 8 but the powers that be decided that Hawaii and South Alabama in the same week at the beginning of the quarter was too much traveling.

How much did backing out of the South Alabama game cost? I bet they weren't thrilled to get the news.

GCM: Your win choices seem to me to be locks except for CP, which could be more of a "pick 'em" kind of game. Of the losses, the ones you picked are probably locks except for the UXDs and Hawai'i, all of which I would put more in the "probable loss" category (i.e. more likely to lose to them than CP, yet not a lock).

It'll probably average out to the overall record you said, or within a game either side of it.

Unless there was a recent rule change, it applies to all D-I

That will change for the Great West schools in 2012 when they start playing in the Big Sky and MVFC. We have 7 OOC games to schedule each year with very limited FCS teams out west. We more or less take what we can get. In 2012 each team will only have to schedule 3 OOC games. I would expect one or two FBS game(s) and the other 1 or 2 games would be against FCS teams starting in 2012.

I'm thinking 6-5 but 5-6 could happen just as easily. I think 8-3 or even 7-4 would be a miracle season. Buying out South Alabama someone indicated was something like $100,000 but don't hold me to it. With a half billion dollar budget cut on the way to the University of California system, this is the way we should be spending our money.
